if we all vibe code and dont really learn to code, who is going to maintain the legacy code everything runs on like the linux kernel?

dont tell me ai will be able to maintain them because at that point the concern wont be ai's ability to do so but its integrity. if we ever get to a time where ai takes care of majority of legacy code, that's when all the dystopia we've seen in scifis' will happen. iron man wouldnt be cool if he gave total autonomy to black box, statisical parrots.

i dont exactly know how the shift is gonna play out but those people who deeply understand these systems are gonna be rare and important for humanity. and they better be good people cause as Andrew Kelly said "technology is only as good as humanity(or the people in charge of it)"
