Simon Harris, who has confirmed he will run for the leadership of Fine Gael, is not for free speech. He wants more restrictions to be added to the controversial Hate Speech Bill, including "migration status".

The inclusion of "Migration Status" could stifle ongoing public debate in Ireland about housing and border control.

Free Speech Ireland are launching “The Trinity Declaration on Academic Freedom and Freedom of Expression” next week in Trinity College, Dublin.

A few academics will be speaking on the day. Following that, we will encourage attendees to sign the Declaration to raise awareness about the threats to academic freedom in Ireland.
