We have got the chance to read the draft paper that forced Timnit Gebru out of Google.

Timnit Gebru, a widely respected leader in AI ethics research, is known for coauthoring a groundbreaking paper that showed facial recognition to be less accurate at identifying women and people of color, which means its use can end up discriminating against them. She also cofounded the Black in AI affinity group, and champions diversity in the tech industry. The team she helped build at Google is one of the most diverse in AI, and includes many leading experts in their own right. Peers in the field envied it for producing critical work that often challenged mainstream AI practices.

On the evening of Wednesday, Dec 2, Timnit twittered that the company had forced her out. 

Because of the disclosed paper which her co-author suggested us to not fully release so we can only tell that the company's star ethics researcher highlighted the risks of large language models, which are key to Google's business.

Soon we will post the copy of the Research titled “On the Dangers of Stochastic Parrots: Can Language Models Be Too Big?” paper which we will choose specific topics from it because of many details they cover, referenced materials they included and people that have been coauthored, of course with granted permission from Timnit herself.

ማሽንን በማስተማር የኢትዮጵያ ቋንቋዎችን ወደ እንግሊዘኛ የሚተረጉም መተግበሪያ (App) 'ልሳን' የተሰኘ ኩባንያ ፈጠሯል።

ልሳን በአማርኛ ቋንቋ የተፃፉ ፅሁፎችን ወደ እንግሊዘኛ፣ በእንግሊዘኛ የተፃፉትን ደግሞ ወደ አማርኛ የሚተረጉም መተግበሪያውን ለህዝብ ያቀረበው አሁን በጀመርነው የኢትዮጵያውያኖች አዲስ አመት መግቢያ ላይ ሲሆን በቅርቡ በትግርኛና በኦሮምኛ ቋንቋዎችም የትርጉም አገልግሎት መስጠት ይጀምራል።

በኢንፎርሜሽን ቴክኖሎጂ ትምህርቱን በኢትዮጵያ ጀምሮ በአውሮፓ የማስተርስ እና የፒኤችዲ ዲግሪውን የተማረው አስመላሽ ተካ ከሥራ ባልደረባው አዳም ቡድዌይን በመተባበር ለአማርኛ፣ ትግርኛ፣ ኦሮምኛ እና ሶማሊኛ ቋንቋዎች የትርጉም ግልጋሎት የሚሰጥ ልሳን የተባለ ኩባንያ አቋቁሟል።

ሥርዓቱ በሚሊዮኖች ከሚቆጠሩ ምሳሌዎች ይማራል። Thirteen months of sun shine የአስራ ሶስት ወራት የጸሀይ ብርሀን I like Enjera እንጀራ እወዳለሁ። እንዲህ አይነት በሚሊዮኖች የሚቆጠሩ ምሳሌዎች ይኖራሉ። አንድ ሰው I like sun shine ብሎ ሲጽፍ፤ እንዲህ አይነቱ ምሳሌ በስልጠና ሒደቱ ታይቶ ባይታወቅም ሥርዓቱ sun shine የሚለውን ቃል፦ የአስራ ሶስት ወራት የጸሀይ ብርሀን ከሚለው ምሳሌ ወስዶ ይተረጉማል። I like የሚለውን ከሌላኛው የማስተማሪያ ምሳሌ፦ እንጀራ እወዳለሁ ከሚለው ይወስዳል። ከዚያ ይኸ አረፍተ ነገር ጸሀይ ብርሀን እወዳለሁ የሚል ትርጉም እንዳለው ይረዳል”ሲል ማሽንን ትርጉም የማሰልጠን ሒደት ምን እንደሚመስል አስመላሽ ተካ በምሳሌ አስረድቷል።

ከዚህም በተጨማሪ ልሳን ለግላዊ መተግበሪያ ሶፍትዌሮች ለሚሰሩ ፕሮግራመሮች ለራሳቸው ውስጣዊ መጠቀሚያ በPython እንዴት እንደሚያካትቱት ያሳያሉ፡
