📌 Bamboo Cultivation

This tree, which comes from the grass family, is known as a poor man's timber and green gold.

🔺 It grows fast and requires low maintenance.

➤ It does not require chemicals, pesticides, fertilizers and water to grow.

➤ Matures for cultivation in 4-5 years

🔺 while the hardwood takes 30-80 years.

➤ This tree plays an important role in water and soil conservation.

■It absorbs CO2 and can generate 35% more oxygen than trees.

■It improves soil quality.

🔺 It can be planted to reclaim degraded sites and wastelands.

📌 Is bamboo a tree or grass?

♦️ Scientifically, bamboo is classified as grass rather than a tree. However, the Indian Forest Act of 1927 categorized it as a tree, making it illegal to cut or transport bamboo outside of forests.

🚫 In 2017, an amendment to this act removed bamboo from the tree category, allowing for its cultivation and harvesting even outside forest areas without restriction.

✅ India is the world's second-largest producer of bamboo after China.

Seed priming is a pre-sowing treatment where seeds are partially hydrated to initiate early germination metabolic processes, allowing them to germinate faster and more uniformly, but without allowing the radicle (primary root) to fully emerge, essentially "priming" them for quicker germination when planted in the soil; this is achieved by soaking seeds in water or a solution with low osmotic potential for a controlled period of time, then drying them back to near their original moisture content.

📌 Flowering of Bamboo 💐🌸

🔺Gregarious Flowering (General flowering):- within one or a few years, over a considerable area, of all or most of the individuals of certain species that do not flower annually. don't flower annually (in some cases death of plant).

🔺• Sporadic Flowering:- Flowering of one or few culms in a clump or a few clump in locality.

🔺• Annual Flowering:- Arundinaria wightiana, Bambusa lineata, Ochlandra stridula etc, not followed by death.
