🔖 What Are Deemed Forest and Kelp Forest ?

📌 Deemed forests are areas of land that appear to be forested but are not officially classified as such in government or revenue records. In India, deemed forests account for about 1% of total forest land.🔺🔺


📌 Kelp forest :- Kelp forests are underwater areas with dense concentrations of kelp, a large brown algae that grows in cool, shallow coastal waters. 🔺🔺

🔰 They are home to a wide variety of plants and animals, including fish, invertebrates, marine mammals, seals, sea lions, whales, sea otters, gulls, terns, and snowy egrets. 

🔰 Marine protected areas (MPAs) can help protect existing kelp forest ecosystems and may help regenerate those that have been affected.

📌 Bamboo Cultivation

This tree, which comes from the grass family, is known as a poor man's timber and green gold.

🔺 It grows fast and requires low maintenance.

➤ It does not require chemicals, pesticides, fertilizers and water to grow.

➤ Matures for cultivation in 4-5 years

🔺 while the hardwood takes 30-80 years.

➤ This tree plays an important role in water and soil conservation.

■It absorbs CO2 and can generate 35% more oxygen than trees.

■It improves soil quality.

🔺 It can be planted to reclaim degraded sites and wastelands.

📌 Is bamboo a tree or grass?

♦️ Scientifically, bamboo is classified as grass rather than a tree. However, the Indian Forest Act of 1927 categorized it as a tree, making it illegal to cut or transport bamboo outside of forests.

🚫 In 2017, an amendment to this act removed bamboo from the tree category, allowing for its cultivation and harvesting even outside forest areas without restriction.

✅ India is the world's second-largest producer of bamboo after China.
