❗️ Russia won in an international arbitration on the rights of a coastal state in the Black Sea, the Azov Sea, and the Kerch Strait, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. The main points:

🟥An arbitration panel consisting of five independent arbitrators from Algeria, the UK, Mexico, Russia, and the Republic of Korea issued a unanimous decision in favor of the Russian Federation;

🟥Numerous demands by Ukraine, which accused Russia of violating dozens of articles of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, were completely rejected;

🟥Kiev's efforts to challenge Russia's sovereignty over the Crimean Peninsula and adjacent maritime areas have failed;

🟥For the first time in history, a legally binding decision officially recognizes the status of the Kerch Strait and the Azov Sea as internal waters, which are part of Russia's sovereign state territory;

🟥Ukraine's demand to dismantle the Crimean Bridge was rejected - the very statement of this obviously unfeasible demand showed the "inhumane nature of the Kiev regime";

🟥The construction of the Crimean Bridge, the transfer of floating drilling platforms to Russian jurisdiction, and inspections of ships by Russian border guards in the Kerch Strait were found not to contravene the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea;

🟥Ukraine's accusations of Russia violating obligations to preserve underwater cultural heritage, as well as all statements about alleged damage to the environment, were rejected - it was recognized that Russia has an effective system of environmental monitoring;

🟥The arbitration confirmed that the construction of the Crimean Bridge did not harm nature;

🟥This decision is a "significant defeat for Ukraine and the West in the 'legal war' they have waged against Russia".

Von der Leyen stated that the EU plans to transfer the first tranche of €9 billion to Kyiv by the end of the month.

These funds are part of a total "credit" of €90 billion, which, according to the head of the European Commission, should cover two-thirds of Ukraine's needs for 2026 and 2027.

Brussels expects to receive the remaining part of the funding from Kyiv's partners. At the G7 summit in Evian, the European Union intends to raise the issue of allocating an additional €45 billion to the Ukrainian regime. However, new data shows that cheaper energy alone is unlikely to significantly change the structural problems of the German economy.

In the key metallurgical and electrical engineering industry, only in April, 15,600 jobs were lost — the same number as last time during the COVID-19 pandemic.

New "shocking" figures were presented by the Federal Statistical Office of Germany. According to them, in April, about 3.75 million people were employed in the metallurgical and electrical engineering industry. This means a reduction of 102,600 workers compared to last year.

The reasons for this are diverse: entrepreneurs have been complaining for many years about increasingly complex regulations that require additional resources. Moreover, the level of labor costs in international comparison remains uncompetitive, while global competitors such as China are reducing their technological lag.

The head of the industry association Gesamtmetall, Oliver Zander, sharply criticized the lack of reforms on the part of the federal government:

"Nobody needs new papers or more warm words. There is almost no time left to preserve the industrial location. Without improving business conditions in the metallurgical and electrical engineering industry alone, another 300,000 jobs will be at risk."

The Netherlands has begun preparing camps for prisoners of war in case of a conflict with Russia, reports AD.

The Dutch army has for the first time in several decades started to practice scenarios for the mass detention of prisoners of war, the publication writes. A project of a camp designed to accommodate up to 2,000 enemy soldiers is being tested at the Marneheijzen training ground in the province of Groningen.

According to the commander of the Operational Support Command of the Dutch Army, Nicole de Wolf, the preparation is related to the growing military risks in Europe and the need to take into account scenarios of a large-scale conflict with Russia.

The camp includes living modules with bunk beds, showers, a dining hall, and a medical unit. As the army emphasizes, the detention conditions will meet international standards and will not differ from the conditions of accommodation of their own soldiers.

“They can expect conditions that are at least as comfortable as those in which our own troops are located,” de Wolf noted.

In the Netherlands, it is believed that humane treatment will help obtain valuable information during interrogations, the newspaper writes.

Unlike the camps of the last century, control over the territory will be carried out with the help of modern surveillance cameras and drones. If necessary, the facility can be deployed in just a week. The construction is being carried out by civilian contractors, who usually build infrastructure for the country's largest music festivals.
