Sutton Hoo: Indo-European Funerary Practises in Saxon England | The site in Suffolk, Eastern England, has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, when it was settled by Indo-European pastoralists. After the Germanic conquest of England, the early Anglo-Saxons used Sutton Hoo as a sacred cemetary. Between 575 – 625 CE, they constructed approx. 20 burial mounds (or, hlāw. See: 21.5.21) on the site, complete with grave goods typical of the Indo-European tradition.
Shared here, words of wisdom from a very wise man I greatly look up to. "I hae this conversation, the other day. When I said I wass.. "indigenous". Qualified as "european".. they said .. "Well thats not the same thing, you know.. because of "....".. and the words "residential schools" and "genocide" ect ect .. reared up, in the conversation.
" How much do you know of history ?.." I asked. They looked at me like WTF !. They, after all, have a degree in university, where I.. am an old hillbilly who never graduated from high school. Missin a credit or two, what the hell. College after, for a couple of years but I didnt learn much there either, that really matters...
" The highland clearances".. I said. "That wass our trail of tears ". We were dragged oot of our houses in the winter, the thatch set on fire, and driven away. The old people, and wee babes died right away.. and those born in the ditch along side the road... ja.And, the first residential schools were in Scotland after the rebellion.. when we were forbidden to speak gallic, or have any item of scots culture. " The potato famine".. I went on, "from my Irish side.. "Relief ships were sent, but were not allowed to unload in the ports.. as the while, so many, in that whole country, were dying". "That " I went on.."wass a genocide ". Then I went on a little aboot the industrial revolution.. and how a whole family, doon ta children as young as five yrs old.. worked in the factorys which had no safety guarding.. for all the daylight hours and, when the darkness had comme.. came together in their rat infested tenement, without enough money to put together a decent supper. The wee ones, would be so tired they would sometimes fall into the machinery, and be ground up. Railings were put on the walkways after that because the whole place had to be shut doon and cleaned up.. and that, cut heavily into production..
Well, I could see from that, my friend had no conversation after .... She walked away, and hasnt talked with me since." LAUKR ALU *****🌈

Just made a ride on my bicycle and the springtime makes riding a bike great🙂. A while ago, before the springweather actually was there, Dirkje made a beautiful poem about spring called : Goddess of Spring. Here it is: After freezing cold,
you're still here.
Many names, many shapes,
through the ages,
always there.
New life, sparkling green,
bright leaves, soft feathers.
Your breath is magic,
like the spark
flows through me,
in a joyful yes!

Dirkje
