Holmenkollen tourist hotel, former hotel at Holmenkollen which was located approximately where the parking lot in front of the WC house was later built.
The hotel was built in 1889 and was designed by architect Holm Munthe. It burned in 1895 and was rebuilt in 1896 (arch. Ole Sverre). The tourist hotel was one of the main works in the Norwegian kite style. Inside, the hotel was decorated by Gerhard Munthe and Theodor Kittelsen, with woven rugs and wood carvings in the National Art Nouveau style. The famous "Adventure Room" was in its entirety a product of Gerhard Munthe's creative imagination.
From 1898, guests could arrive at the hotel with the newly opened Holmenkolbanen .
The hotel burned down in 1914 after a lightning strike. It was not rebuilt, instead the business was moved to the sanatorium a hundred meters further up, such as Holmenkollen Tourist Hotel and Sanatorium, what is now Scandic Holmenkollen Park .
During the war, the Germans built several of the barracks in Holmenkollen camp , where the hotel had been located. They lay there until the early 1960s. There are still two shelters on each side of this part of the camp area, one on the slope to the west, the other on the other side of Kongeveien .

We have been inundated with 100s of hours of footage from the worldwide demonstrations that took place on March 20th, and we're honoured to be trusted by so many to speak on behalf of the freedom movement internationally. We don’t take that responsibility lightly. We are a small team, and have voluntarily been working around the clock for weeks, shooting interviews and compiling footage to make the most compelling end result we can in the short window of time we have.
To everybody that has supported us, to every interviewee that gave up their time, to every person that contributed footage, and to every alternative media outlet still bold enough to speak the truth, no matter the consequences… Thank you.
Tomorrow, for one hour at least, the world will hear humanity roar.

Gone are the days before the massive supermarkets, when every neighborhood had their meat shop, deli shop, dairy shop, bread shop, etc... These shops were ran by a local families. The small independent shops brought community together, because everyone in the neighborhood knew their local families that ran the shops. Local shops were much more cozier, and provided a friendly, comfortable atmosphere for the customers. In smaller shops, neighbors were more likely to run into each other, and have a chat. And not to mention, it provided a really amazing trade for families to do together. With the small local shops mostly gone now, and replaced by giant supermarkets, we lost family centered trades. Families built up their businesses together, and it would be passed s on from generation to generation.
