For my foreign Chaotic Creatures, here's a little bit of information about the day that's celebrated in Brazil on October 31st. It's Saci day. Saci, is this folkloric figure that dates all the way back to before 1500s when Brazil was invaded by Portugal. The tale about a demonic boy that had a tail and lived in the woods making all kinds of shenanigans. He could whistle so loud it would scare any animals or people around. That's where the name comes from. Saci means bird in Tupi. As Africans and Portugueses got into our folklore, Saci turned to fight a Boggart, lose a leg and steal the beast's magical hood, which gave him magical powers. Saci comes to existence by being born from bamboo, then after 77 years he dies turning into a poisonous mushroom. This is one of the many Brazilian Folk Legends that make today a Folklore and Brazilian culture appreciation day instead of Halloween here. Have a spooky day
