Workplace Safety & Security #Reforms
In Vishaka & Ors vs State Of Rajasthan & Ors, 1997 judgement "Vishaka Guidelines" were stipulated by the Supreme Court of India regarding sexual harassment at the workplace. The court stated that these guidelines were to be implemented until legislation is passed to deal with the issue. Subsequently, Government of India finally enacted its law - The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 ("Sexual Harassment Act"). Its been more than 25 years of SC judgement still in 21st century it is disheartening that we are debating safe place for women at workplace !
Vishaka & Ors vs State Of Rajasthan & Ors, 1997ના ચુકાદામાં "વિશાખા માર્ગદર્શિકા" ભારતની સર્વોચ્ચ અદાલત દ્વારા કાર્યસ્થળ પર જાતીય સતામણી અંગે નિર્ધારિત કરવામાં આવી હતી. કોર્ટે કહ્યું કે જ્યાં સુધી આ મુદ્દાને ઉકેલવા માટે કાયદો પસાર કરવામાં ન આવે ત્યાં સુધી આ માર્ગદર્શિકા લાગુ કરવામાં આવશે. ત્યારબાદ ભારત સરકારે આખરે કાર્યસ્થળ પર મહિલા કર્મચારીઓ સામે જાતીય સતામણી નિવારણ અંગેનો કાયદો અમલમાં મૂક્યો હતો The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 ("જાતીય સતામણી અધિનિયમ"). SCના ચુકાદાને 25 વર્ષથી વધુ સમય વીતી ગયો છે છતાં 21મી સદીમાં તે નિરાશાજનક છે કે આપણે કાર્યસ્થળ પર મહિલાઓ માટે સલામત સ્થળની હજુ પણ ચર્ચા કરી રહ્યા છીએ !!

To become ‘Viksit Bharat’ we have to overcome this grave issue ! ‘વિકસીત ભારત’ બનવા માટે આપણે આ ગંભીર સમસ્યાને દૂર કરવી જ પડશે!
