“Flutter in Action”, Probably the worst book on programming I’ve read
https://i.imgur.com/Y8cG1wf.jpgI’m currently reading “Flutter In Action” from @ManningBooks. It’s currently in MEAP, but has had 8 releases already. This book is full of typos, bad code examples and bad coding practices. And it tries so hard to be funny that It’s really torture to read it. High Cringe Factor.I really don’t recommend this book to anyone.Flutter and Dart both have very high quality documentation, and are a much better way to learn than using this book. Wasted money. It uses Dart v1 syntax many places and doesn’t convey the elegance and ease of use of Dart and / or Flutter. I could have mentioned many concrete examples, but that would be a violation of the MEAP agreement with Manning Books.I’ve read books on programming and technology for well over 20 years now, and I’ve never been so dissapointed by any other book from a serious publisher (excluding much of the trash that comes from Packt Publishing). Always been relatively satisfied with books from the “In Action” series by Manning, but I really hope that this book gets reviewed by someone on the Dart or Flutter team before hitting the press after MEAP. It is scheduled for October, but in its given form this is just garbage.

Flutter platform Widgets Docs
Let's help each other out. Most of us do not want to hand write the cross platform stuff so that it switches from material to cupertino widgets on demand wise. There is a nice 3rd party plugin with no docs.I am volunteering to do free articles at medium that are not behind mediums pay wall. All I ask is that you help turn up the heat clap and reading wise as that helps me do aside thing of eventually scoring a remote contract.First article will be proper devops setup so that you can run iOS visually onandroid emulators via main_debug_IO_visual.dartThan I will go on with more articles with appbar, navigation...my profile at medium the subulr is @fredgrottOh yeah btw...does everyone know that Fuchsia is coming out in 2020? How do I know? Chrome was ported to Fuchsia and committed a few months back :)Its going to get oh so much more fun very quickly folks...happy designing

Flutter Kiosk Style Service App?
My buddy has a business and wants to loops a couple videos on a tablet in the waiting room.If a customer picks up the table they can use it to view several videos about his business and options. Is there a way ( android tablet ) to auto restart an app if someone closes the app.Because kids are always messing with it and stop it all the time. Most android tables either buttons or virtual toolbar witch you can use to back out of or force stop an app.I am thinking maybe i need to write an android service or something but would like to do it with dart and flutter. If this is possible can someone point me in the general direction ( i guess it would be similar to a Kiosk )Thanks in Advance :)
