The WSP spyplanes are a more and more commonly used tool by local police to monitor protests, and police departments around the country have used them to help track and suppress protests. Much of the footage can be found online or requested via public records requests, and we can learn a lot from watching it - such as they use it to track individual people. What we can also learn is that FLIR (thermal imaging) has weaknesses - it cant see through opaque objects. Youll notice people get obscured by trees and the buildings in fron of them. Watching video from previous events such as the eviction of the rail blockades in olympia shows that they also cannot see through tarps and umbrellas. So remember, bring umbrellas out for areal coverage!
