🇨🇺 On Cuba, complete blackout once again.

Just days after the previous blackout, the island's power grid didn't manage and shut down entirely once again.

Cuba is going through the worst energy crisis in its history after the US imposed energy blockade against the island. No fuel is allowed to be delivered. With Venezuela being out of the anti-US camp, there are no nearby oil regimes willing to send oil to Cuba left.

Additionally, the US stated that it opposes allowing Russian oil tankers sent to Cuba to reach their destination. This means whatever hopes Cubans had to receive some very limited volume of oil from Russia are, probably, futile.

🇺🇸🇹🇷 US Navy's unmanned military boat developed by the Sierra Nevada company lost control and crashed next to the Turkish coast of the Black Sea.

It was swiftly reported to the government by the locals, then inspected by the Turkish military, then destroyed to avoid having American military technologies stolen by third parties.

Previously, Turkey already experienced same incidents with Russian and Ukrainian sea drones. However, this is the first similar situation involving an American boat, hinting that the US has finally developed and manufactured enough military sea drones to ensure mass-scale use. Additionally, the incident exposes a new layer the US' role in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict - apparently, American sea drones are being used for operations related to that war.

🇨🇳 China Southern Airlines Airbus A330 lost its nose cover just 20 minutes after take off from the airport of Shanghai after collision with a group of birds.

The aircraft's crew decided to return to the airport of departure immediately, because aircrafts' nose covers protect sensitive sensors, which begin to malfunction once exposed to streams of fast-moving air.

The incident is not unusual overall - collisions with birds are the most common reason behind technical problems of aircrafts. However, for China, the situation isn't typical, since the country is known for not having many birds, in general.
🇩🇪 French newspaper of record Le Figaro covers new investigation into German social services hiding rapes, when suspects are of immigrant background.

Le Figaro cites German sources and pays particular attention to Berlin, where such incidents are said to be widespread. The far-left Die Linke party is accused of being actively involved.

Despite victims often being young and below the age of 18, the Berlin police is accused of intentionally making bureaucratic procedures slow, claiming that suspects shouldn't be 'stigmatised'.

Crimes committed by immigrants, especially illegals, and authorities' willingness to provide cover-up or mitigate legal consequences have been a hot topic in the German politics and social discourse for a while. Die Linke is emerging as the most popular party among people standing up for extremely tolerant handling of all problems related to immigrants. At the same time, growing discontent among Germans fuels the rise of popularity of the right-wing Euroskeptic AfD party.

🇬🇧🇮🇷 The Telegraph and BBC spoke to former senior UK military officials, who all confirmed that the UK has virtually no resources and skills to intercept potential Iranian ballistic strikes.

The senior officers went as far as revealing that the UK's entire missile defense is based on 6 warships equipped with Sea Viper air defense missiles. The problem is that, of them, the only one with the actual missiles onboard was sent to the Mediterranean Sea, while others are in the UK ports without missiles stocked and prepared - making them useless in case of an unexpected attack.

Recently, it became known that Iran can and has launched ballistic missiles capable of hitting targets within 4000km radius.

🇬🇧 Prices of elite London real estate collapsed compared to their peak shortly prior to the pre-war and pre-COVID era.

Analysts blame a variety of factors from cultural changes to the UK actively enforcing international sanctions, precedents after property of rich Russians was frozen, higher taxes, increases in cost of living and utilities, more violent crime in the city, loss of its central financial role, spike in inflation, overall exodus of the super wealthy from the UK.

🇷🇺🇺🇸 Russian ice hockey player and captain of the NHL team Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin scored his 1000th goal in the NHL.

He became the league's second player to ever cross that threshold. Currently, Ovechkin stands just 16 goals behind the all-timer record holder Canadian Wayne Gretzky, who has been retired since long ago.

Ovechkin eventually catching up and beating the Gretzky record is expected to become a very big NHL event. The league plans to build the entire season's marketing campaign around that, and President Trump is rumoured to plan to organise a White House event to honour Ovechkin. A this moment of time, 17 more goals are needed to beat the all-time record.

🇸🇪 Sweden's government follows the practice adopted by Georgia and lowers fuel taxes for the time of the international oil crisis.

If necessary, the Scandinavian country's government also considers allocating funds to help mitigate negative effects of the high cost of fuel - that measure was pioneered by Japan yesterday.
🇺🇸 According to the new report by analysts from FT, the Middle East crisis and its impact on the price of oil pose serious risks to the AI boom.

Blockade of the Strait of Hormuz pumps oil prices and leads to shortage of fuel in many regions - that includes regions, which relied on oil and gas for power generation. In these circumstances, less power is available for data centers, making such investments less lucrative and more risky.

Since AI companies accumulated significant losses and keep competing one against another by pumping even more money in their AI projects, decrease in investors' interest will immediately leave them without funds to pay for ongoing operations and lead to a technological gap between them and direct competitors.

Financial analysts have been warning about potential collapse of the AI boob bubble for a while. However, so far, overall positive market trends helped the industry to avoid major shocks. This lead to the AI industry finding itself with ever-increasing expenses with OpenAI burning over $100 million a day - mostly on power for their data centers. At the same time, monetisation prospects for the AI business remain unclear and currently don't cover even a noticeable fraction of the industry's expenses.
🇺🇸🇮🇷 It took Iran 33 minutes to deny Trump's statements about ongoing peace talks between the countries. Iranians called Trump 'coward and liar'.

The mixed and mutually exclusive statements from the both sides led to oil prices and the stock market rising and falling immediately after.

🇦🇪 Users worldwide complain that the UAE government now threatens them with lawsuits for posting footage of Iranian strikes targeting cities in the UAE.

Earlier, the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar all started to prosecute both locals and foreign visitors who filmed and posted videos of Iranian strikes. It remains unknown whether their discontent is mainly motivated by military strategic reasons, or they fear bad PR.

While in the UAE, at worst, people accused of this wrongdoing risk to be sentenced to a few years in prison, Bahrain and Qatar appear to have extremely strict laws concerning the matter.
🇹🇭 Thailand decided to relaunch its coal power plants after gas prices became extremely high and, even when the country is ready to pay, there are no guarantees that gas will be available.

Gas power plants account for 60% of power generation in Thailand, making the ongoing crisis extremely severe. LNG prices already exceed last year's average price by more than 200%.

Thai government decided not to care about ecology and focus on trying to preserve the existing electricity prices for consumers until August at all costs.

🇮🇷🇮🇶🇺🇸 Iran and its attacks forced the US and allies to withdraw forces from Iraq.

Currently, nearly all US troops were evacuated from Iraq and fled to Kurdistan in the north.

Iraqi Shia groups feel so free that they started missile attacks against neighbouring countries. These attacks were preceded by raids and strikes against the US' and NATO members' forces within Iraq prior to their evacuation to Kurdistan.

🇮🇷 Iranian MP Aladdin Borujerdi told on TV that Iran is charging non-US and -Israel affiliated oil tankers, which try to cross the Strait of Hormuz, $2 million for passage.

The MP described the situation as Iran's right and stated that this is the new normal.

Earlier, it became known that some Indian tankers managed to cross. Additionally, Japan received permission too. Apart from that, Iran has only let its own tankers to pass - the country has increased its oil export since the beginning of the conflict, and the US doesn't oppose it, trying to achieve stabilization of the global oil price.
🇰🇷 Seoul court ruled that Samsung intentionally slowed down its Galaxy S22 series smartphones. 1882 buyers filed a class action lawsuit and won.

Even though Samsung proved that the measure wasn't introduced with bad intentions - the company tried to adjust GPU to avoid overheating - the court decided that messing up phones' processors without telling consumers still constitutes a breach of the law.

Traditionally, Samsung's Galaxy phones are known for issues with overheating. Although, previously, the company has been stating that this is the issue of the past. The court process revealed that the problem still remains present in Samsung phones, and the company keeps trying to hide it and develop specific measures to mitigate its effects.
