"What can be greater than a King?" DC has revealed a new 60-second trailer hyping up their four upcoming DCEU movies arriving in 2022. The sneak peek is called "The World Needs Heroes" and features footage from their four big movies: The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson & Zoe Kravitz; Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson & Pierce Brosnan; The Flash starring Ezra Miller & Antje Traue & Michael Shannon; and the sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom with, once again, Jason Momoa & Amber Heard & Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. There's some new footage for all of these except Batman. And they all look pretty damn good so far. DC is trying very hard to match Marvel in quality, not in quantity, and while their movies have a different feel they're usually just as epic. "Come with us... there's a glorious world out there waiting for you." https://onfs.net/3rKeVCu
Another amazing, amusing "incredible but true" film from the one-and-only filmmaker Quentin Dupieux! After premiering Mandibles in 2020 at the start of the pandemic, Dupieux is back with another small time, kooky comedy called Incredible But True, originally known as Incroyable Mais Vrai in French. This new film is a commentary on getting older, focusing on one couple and their friends and what happens when they move into a new house and discover its secret. Dupieux makes the best kind of lighthearted, humorous indie cinema. It's hard to explain what it is about his filmmaking that I enjoy so much. His films are always light and wacky and funny and entirely original - there's no one else telling these stories in this way with this kind of quirky humor. Even if he's not making the most brilliant films, they're still entertaining and riotous. https://onfs.net/3LtFkwn
"I did what I had to do... to protect our world." Wow! Don't mess with the Multiverse. Marvel Studios has revealed the full-length main trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just before the start of the Super Bowl shot this year. Following the first teaser on Spidey last year, this trailer reveals a lot more footage than expected. After Strange opened the Multiverse for Peter Parker in No Way Home, causing the calamity that appears in that movie, things have been knocked out of balance and now they don't know what's next. "The Multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little." There's more looks at all the crazy things going on with Evil Strange + Wanda, plus teases of other intriguing Multiverse characters. Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Doctor Strange, along with Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, and Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez - seen in a few scenes here. Directed by Sam Raimi! This still looks as awesome as I was hoping, so dark and twisted. Yeah I can't wait. https://onfs.net/3LsH88O
"Tonight... is movie night!" Netflix has debuted their new 60-second Super Bowl TV spot from the Big Game today, featuring a melange of various films they're releasing through the year. It's a more condensed version of their recent 2022 Movie Preview they posted last week. And it also includes another 30-sec teaser for The Adam Project, which was also revealed with the first trailer last week, too. "After a quick huddle, we're calling an audible and wrapping up our supersized preview with an exclusive new look at our family-friendly, time-travel adventure, The Adam Project. Watch the spot! And after the big game, make tonight a movie night with Netflix." It also features footage from movies like Gray Man, Me Time, The School for Good & Evil, Day Shift, and others. Gotta say, I'm glad Netflix is actually putting a bit more oomph into their promotion recently. All of these look good! Keep an eye out for them and many more on Netflix soon. https://onfs.net/3Bip24y
"Embrace it!" What a badass tease! Disney debuted their impressive 30-second Big Game TV spot for Moon Knight during the game today. The first teaser dropped last month, but this is a better spot overall. Oscar Isaac stars as Marc Spector, a former Marine who suffers from dissociative identity disorder and is granted the powers of an Egyptian moon god. Turning himself into "Moon Knight." But he soon finds out that these newfound powers can be both a blessing and a curse to his troubled life, fighting against his own multiple identities. In addition to Isaac, this series stars Ethan Hawke, Gaspard Ulliel, and May Calamawy. It's debuting in March streaming right away on Disney+. The best shot in this is the one where he jumps and his cape becomes a crescent moon for a half a second. I mean, what?! So cool. I hope this series turns out okay. https://onfs.net/3rNRQyI
"We're not the bad guys... we're just the guys trying to get home!" Universal has also debuted anew 30-second TV spot for Ambulance originally aired during the Super Bowl. This spot is all about Los Angeles as the location for this intense action thriller. In this breakneck thriller from director-producer Michael Bay, two desperate brothers hijack an ambulance with a wounded cop clinging to life and ace EMT onboard, too. In a high-speed pursuit that never stops, Will and Danny must evade a massive, city-wide law enforcement response, keep their hostages alive, and somehow try not to kill each other, all while executing the most insane escape L.A. has ever seen. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Eiza González, and Garret Dillahunt. This is a remake of the 2005 Danish film Ambulancen. We posted the first official trailer last year, and the release has been pushed back to April in a few months. And it still looks worth the wait! This is the kind of full-on action epic that will be an ideal pick for an enjoyable evening at the theaters. https://onfs.net/3JrsJry
"Haven't you ever wondered what else is out there? There's wonders in this world beyond our wandering." It's time for our very first look at footage from Amazon's new Lord of the Rings series, titled The Rings of Power. We've been following this for years and they're finally revealing it after all this time, preparing for release in September. The series brings to screens the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of Tolkien’s Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged... From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone. The big cast includes Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Markella Kavenagh, Sophia Nomvete, Lenny Henry, Charlie Vickers, Megan Richards, and Maxim Baldry. So far so good, looks promising! A new legend begins this fall. https://onfs.net/3oNXr6y
"Why are you the only man who wants to stay with me?" Hulu has revealed a teaser trailer on Valentine's Day for the psychological thriller Deep Water, about a married couple who have fallen out of love. The film stars Ben Affleck & Ana de Armas and is skipping theaters entirely, heading straight to Hulu this March. This is the project when Affleck & de Armas first met and started dating, even though their romance as seen through the gossip rags seems a lot like the plot of the film anyway. Their loveless marriage is held together only by a precarious arrangement whereby, in order to avoid the messiness of divorce, Melinda is allowed to take any number of lovers as long as she does not desert her family. But her husband becomes a suspect when her lovers start showing up dead. Is he the one with a problem or is something else going on? The cast also includes Tracy Letts, Rachel Blanchard, Lil Rel Howery, Finn Wittrock, Jacob Elordi, Dash Mihok, and Kristen Connolly. This is one sultry teaser, oh my!! Don't even need to see more than this. https://onfs.net/3Jwhbn7
"It's the bonds within the pride, the pack, and the herd, that allow each member to succeed." Netflix has debuted an official trailer for another nature documentary titled Surviving Paradise: A Family Tale, all about the animals of the Okavango Delta. The delta is a vast oasis, isolated from the rest of the world by unforgiving desert, found in Botswana in the middle of Africa (check Google Maps). Big cats may appear to reign here, but in reality, the fate of every creature, great and small, is intertwined. This film explores the blueprints for building the perfect world, managing it sustainably, and maintaining it – despite extremes of drought, famine, and flood. Most crucially, the film exciting will spotlight those passing the secret formula on to their descendents. Sounds like it's a bit more than just your usual discovery channel film! Featuring cinematography by Brad Bestelink, and narration by Regé-Jean Page. This looks absolutely incredible, of course, so much astounding footage that always still makes you wonder "how did they get that shot?!" Enjoy. https://onfs.net/3Jrj6cn
"From here on out, we are playing to win!" HBO has revealed the full-length official trailer for Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, a new series about the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. This is a dramatic series, not a doc, and is also the project that Will Ferrell and Adam McKay fought about. The first episode is directed by Adam McKay, who is (of course) a big time Lakers fan. The series tells the story of the rise of basketball Hall Of Famer Magic Johnson (Quincy Isaiah) and the lengths that one man, Jerry Buss (John C. Reilly), will go in pursuit of securing a basketball dynasty. The cast includes all kinds of fun names: Sean Patrick Small as Larry Bird, Sally Field as Jessie Buss, Adrien Brody as Pat Riley, Mike Epps as Pryor, Max E. Williams as Lakers fan Jack Nicholson, Carina Conti as Paula Adbul, Jason Segel as Paul Westhead, Michael Boucher as Jack Curran, Michael AG Scott as Butch Lee, and more! This looks surprisingly good. Not just another sports drama, there's heaps of style and energy in this. https://onfs.net/3sFLkJN
"We'll build a dream! This tower is France's tower." Blue Fox Entertainment has revealed the official US trailer for the French romance Eiffel, set during the building of the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris at the end of the 1800s. The film not only tells of the struggles of celebrated engineer Gustave Eiffel while he creates this famous landmark and works to build it, but also his romance with another woman, a "long lost, forbidden passion that inspires him to change the Paris skyline forever." Oh my. The government is asking Eiffel to design something spectacular for the 1889 Paris World Fair, but Eiffel simply wants to design the subway. Suddenly, everything changes when Eiffel crosses paths with a mysterious woman from his past. Starring Romain Duris as Gustave Eiffel, Emma Mackey as Adrienne Bourgès, and Pierre Deladonchamps as Antoine Restac, with Armande Boulanger, Philippe Hérisson, Andranic Manet, Juliette Blanche. I still want to see this! As cheesy and exaggerated as it is, I'm a sucker for these kind of epic historic dramas. https://onfs.net/3uQFwQw
"This was never meant for your eyes, I'm afraid..." Following festival premieres last year, the first official trailer for an indie horror anthology feature titled Underneath has arrived online. Featuring five terrifying tales bound together by something that waits from beyond... Evil in Chapters! "Underneath is a grassroots, self-financed anthology comprised of five chapters, an epilogue, and several mind-bending vignettes that are all bound together by something unnatural and sinister." The project was conceived by John Nicol, who co-wrote and directed many of the segments as well. "An unstable individual who is convinced that ominous cracks in his basement may in fact be a breach into Hell itself... Is he in direct communication with demons, or has he opened a portal into their realm of terror? Poisoned by the revelation of five tales, he succumbs to the mental strain on his increasingly damaged mind." While this may not be the best horror segments out there, these kind of concepts allow for creative experimentation + crazy ideas that sometimes do work well. https://onfs.net/34EWsyA
"She was fearless!" Amazon has revealed the full official trailer for the documentary film Lucy and Desi, made by actress / comedian / filmmaker Amy Poehler. This recently premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival to mostly positive reviews, as it's a comprehensive doc that covers their entire lives from start to finish. A much more elegant and thorough look into the lives of Lucy and Desi, all the good and bad, than the recent Being the Ricardos film, but they certainly go hand-and-hand and play well as a double feature. Poehler's doc Lucy and Desi explores the rise of comedian icon Lucille Ball, her relationship with Desi Arnaz, and how their groundbreaking sitcom "I Love Lucy" forever changed the television world, cementing her legacy long after her death in 1989. And it's only rated PG! Near perfect use of Lana Del Rey's "Young & Beautiful" in this trailer, too. Highly recommend giving this doc a watch when it lands on Prime Video soon. https://onfs.net/3oNUrHn
"Do I look as if I'd turn down a villa in the South of France?!" Focus Features has revealed the full-length official trailer for Downton Abbey: A New Era, now opening in US theaters this May after being delayed from March this year. A New Era is a continuation of the big screen cinematic Downton Abbey story, with the first film opening back in 2019 following the TV series. This new film will see the Crawley family and Downton staff receiving a royal visit from the King and Queen of Great Britain, but that's not it. There's also the buzz of a "motion picture" filming on the Estate, plus a visit to a mysterious villa in the South of France connected to Violet Crawley. What is going on with this villa? The ensemble cast features all the regulars returning again: Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, & Phyllis Logan; joined by Hugh Dancy, Nathalie Baye, Laura Haddock, and Dominic West. I just love how sassy and regal the glorious Maggie Smith is in this trailer - she rules. https://onfs.net/3uX4Zb3
"It's about... giving yourself over to someone... becoming one forever. That's love." Bon appetit! Searchlight Pictures has unveiled the first official trailer for Fresh, the freaky new horror comedy thriller marking the feature debut of filmmaker Mimi Cave. This was a HUGE hit at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival just a few weeks ago, one of the best reviewed films that everyone was talking about. Don't miss it!! Fresh is definitely this year's Get Out, but I don't want to explain anything more than that. The horrors of modern dating seen through one young woman's defiant battle to survive her new boyfriend's unusual appetites. Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as a woman who finds a connection with Sebastian Stan, at least on the first few dates. The cast also includes Jojo T. Gibbs, Andrea Bang, Dayo Okeniyi, Charlotte Le Bon, & Brett Dier. One of my favorite films of Sundance, this is going to be the film all of your friends are going to be talking about. https://onfs.net/3oQ2Gm8
"Say someone did hide a message in those tapes - do you really want to be the guy to figure out what that means?" Lightbulb Film in the UK has revealed another full UK trailer for their release of the indie mystery horror-thriller Broadcast Signal Intrusion, made by filmmaker Jacob Gentry. This originally premiered at the 2021 SXSW Film Festival and opened last fall in the US (it's out now to watch in the US only if you to check it out). The film lands in UK cinemas this March. In the late 90s, a video archivist unearths a series of sinister pirate broadcasts that took over antenna TV signals, and he becomes obsessed with uncovering the conspiracy behind them, while wondering if any of this might connect to the disappearance of his wife years ago. Harry Shum Jr. stars as James, with an indie cast including Chris Sullivan, Kelley Mack, Steve Pringle, and Justin Welborn. I caught this at SXSW last year and enjoyed it, there's some intriguing style and mystery within. This trailer reveals more than the US one, but not everything. Still needs deciphering. https://onfs.net/34BpD5L
"Rescuing the world takes a pair." Ohh what a tagline. They're back!! Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers is an all-new, never-done-before, completely 100% original movie (based on pre-existing IP owned by Disney). A comeback 30 years in the making, the hybrid live-action/CG animated action-comedy catches up with the former Disney Afternoon television stars in modern-day Los Angeles. There's a really fun transition moment in this teaser where they go from the classic 2D TV animation style to the "modern" 3D CGI style, and it kinda works? But don't forget that they tried to do this with Tom & Jerry, and it didn't out that great. Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers stars John Mulaney as Chip, Andy Samberg as Dale, and KiKi Layne, plus Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Tress MacNeille, Tim Robinson, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, and Chris Parnell. Of course putting this in the hands of the Lonely Island guys means it's going to be amazing! It looks hilarious, the perfect way to bring 'em back. https://onfs.net/3v7xLG3
"You owe a debt to a helluva lot more people than just me." Netflix has revealed the first official trailer for Windfall, a new "Hitchcockian thriller" following a wealthy couple who arrive at their vacation home only to find it's being robbed. This is the latest film by filmmaker Charlie McDowell, best known for his Sundance gems The One I Love and The Discovery. The concept for this one, created by co-star Jason Segel, wonders "what if" your safe space at home "gets invaded and doesn't feel safe anymore?" Starring Jason Segel, Lily Collins, Jesse Plemons, and that's it. "The story really exposes all three of us," Collins explains. "We're all flawed, and the story showcases and starts to unearth how those flaws come about and that none of us are innocent. And I feel like it is about choice and the choices we make and the choices we don't make and how that does set you off on a very specific path." Oh this looks VERY good. I'm excited to see all that is revealed. https://onfs.net/3oPBgNi
"There are just some things... you don't understand." Netflix has revealed the first official trailer for a new mystery crime thriller series titled Pieces of Her, based on Karin Slaughter's bestselling novel of the same name. The best part about this is that stars the superbly talented Toni Collette, in a role where it seems she has some hidden sides. When a Saturday afternoon trip to the mall with her mother suddenly explodes into violence, an adrift young woman's conception of her mother is forever altered. As figures from her past start to resurface, she is forced to go on the run and on that journey, begins to piece together the truth of her mother's previous identity and uncovers secrets of her childhood. Also co-starring Bella Heathcote, with Jessica Barden, Jacob Scipio, Joe Dempsie, Aaron Jeffery, Omari Hardwick, Gil Birmingham, David Wenham, Calum Worthy, Nicholas Burton, and Terry O’Quinn. This almost reminds me of A History of Violence but with Collette and as a small town America series instead. Very mysterious premise. https://onfs.net/3gKZ1BC
"I have no words... my voice is in my sword." We may already be well into 2022, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy another look back at the movies of 2021! Film critic Jeff Zhang (who runs the website Strange Harbors) put together this fantastic "A Year in Film 2021" movie trailer mashup retrospective, featuring clips from many of last year's movies cut together. "It's late this year, but I spent 50+ hours and the last two months finishing my passion project: my annual A Year in Film edit. Lots of love went into this year’s video, so grab a seat and celebrate the movies of 2021 one more time." This is one of the best year-in-review recap videos for 2021, with the editing throughout seriously kicking ass taking us back through many great movie moments. This makes me want to rewatch so many of them! Have you watched Pig yet? What about Titane? https://onfs.net/3HSsgOJ
"Open your third eye... and prepare to die!" Mutiny Pictures already released this indie Troma-esque horror film last fall, but we're just catching up with it now thanks to a tip from Twitter. How did we miss this last year?! I Need You Dead is a homemade, gross-out, wacky horror comedy creation made by the filmmaker Rocko Zevenbergen. After a moment of total teenage angst, a young punk soon finds himself at odds with a psychedelic monster of his own creation. It's described by the filmmaker as "the type of party that starts on top of the world, but by the end has your head halfway down a toilet." There is a new hallucinogen going around, but it brings out more than just some good vibes. The film stars Estevan Muñoz, Sidra Morgan-Montoya, Lloyd Kaufman, Tim Coyle, and Michael Morrison. It's streaming on Prime Video now to rent or buy if this is your thing. I have to say, the effects and absurdity are cool enough to get my attention. https://onfs.net/3gLKANR
