"Where the hell is this 'stranger?'" HBO Max has revealed the first full trailer for their new mini-series The Tourist, originally made for BBC One and Stan in Australia. So - who is he? When a man wakes up with amnesia in an Australian hospital, he must use what few clues he has to discover his identity before his past catches up with him. In the first scene, the protagonist is driving through the outback pursued by a truck whose driver is trying to run him off the road. This stars Jamie Dornan as "The Man", plus an ensemble cast including Danielle Macdonald, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Genevieve Lemon, Alex Dimitriades, and Damon Herriman. As mysterious as this all is, the trailer pretty much reveals most of who he is - some kind of criminal involved in some kind of problem with other gangsters. It looks a bit like the "Fargo" series, with lots of dead bodies and shady characters showing up in a small town. https://onfs.net/369JzNz
"It just feels easier for me to lay in bed..." Oh yes, we all know that feeling. Gravitas Ventures has unveiled an official trailer for a documentary film titled Just Like You: Anxiety + Depression. Jen Greenstreet is a former prosecuting attorney who decided to start a film company to help with mental health issues, and she has been making shorts for years with "Just Like You." This feature-length doc is the culmination of all of her work so far, telling stories and making films addressing challenges with mental health. In this film - brave kids, Emmy award winning journalists, a clinical psychologist at Columbia University, as well as one determined mother take on the overwhelming fear & stigma plaguing the mental health community, leaving us enlightened, empowered and equipped to either live life or lift up the lives of those with challenging and even life-threatening conditions. "This film will save lives," they say. This new chapter in the "JLY" series focuses on the fear of getting support and help with recovery. Hopefully this film is better than the trailer. https://onfs.net/3LlXr7v
"Whatever's out there ain't going to go away if you keep feeding it." Gravitas has revealed the first official trailer for Tethered, an indie horror film made by filmmaker Daniel Robinette. Deep within the woods of North Carolina, miles from civilization, a blind teenager and the hunter he befriends are tormented by a mysterious creature lurking in the woods. His only other stimulation is a tape recorded message containing three mysterious rules: The First Rule: When you hunt or scavenge, do it for two—one for the forest and one for you.The Second Rule: When your will is almost gone and you feel like giving up, find comfort in singing our song. The Third Rule: You must never, ever let go of the rope. The film stars Alexandra Paul, Kareem Ferguson, Jared L. Cook, Brody Bett, and Chris Demm. This looks solid for a tiny budget indie flick. https://onfs.net/3oKql7p
"The showdown begins..." Paramount Pictures has revealed an entertaining 30-second Super Bowl TV spot for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which will show during the pre-game festivities this weekend. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic must team up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. The movie stars Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles, Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Tails, plus Jim Carrey back as the evil Dr. Robotnik, with James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Lee Majdoub, and Shemar Moore. "Bengals or Rams? I have no idea, but the Hedgehog can take 'em both. Check out the new BIG GAME spot" for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Yeah - this looks like it's going to be a blast. https://onfs.net/34A7aGC
"I have a plan. I'm coming to you." Intromovies has unveiled an official US trailer for an intriguing Finnish indie film titled The Blind Man Who Did Not Want To See Titanic, which originally premiered at the 2021 Venice Film Festival last year. It's playing at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival this fall. Jaakko and Sirpa have never met face to face but used to talk on the phone every day. When he heard about her declining health, he decides to go meet her in another city, though soon she will learn that he is blind and paralyzed from the chest down. The film is shot from a blind man's perspective, starring Petri Poikolainen, a blind and wheelchair-bound actor in a gripping debut performance. Wow. The filmmaker's style is best described as good-willed yet unapologetic political satire of humanity. "He has never see the movie Titanic." Ha! Also starring Marjaana Maijala as Sirpa. This looks great! I missed this one at the festivals but it seems like a really sweet, honest, and fascinating film about the life of a blind man in Finland. Definitely worth a watch. https://onfs.net/3p3HZU3
"Who are you then?" "I'm free." Vertical has revealed the first official trailer for Alice, which just premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival a few weeks ago. The drama involves an interesting story similar to The Village - Sundance sets up film's the concept: "Alice spends her days enslaved on a rural Georgia plantation restlessly yearning for freedom. After a violent clash with plantation owner Paul, Alice flees through the neighboring woods and stumbles onto the unfamiliar sight of a highway, soon discovering that the year is actually 1973. Rescued on the roadside by a disillusioned Black activist named Frank, Alice uncovers the lies that have kept her enslaved and the promise of Black liberation." Alice stars Keke Palmer, with Common, Gaius Charles, and Jonny Lee Miller. The second half plays like a 70s blaxploitation film, which is the vibe this trailer is going for. I saw this already and it's not so bad. Worth a look if the premise intrigues you. https://onfs.net/3gGArBU
"I'm not really sure how I'm feeling. And I think that's okay." Paramount has unveiled an official trailer for Three Months, a coming-of-age indie dramedy marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Jared Frieder. This hasn't played at any festivals as far as we know, but MTV is standing behind it and releasing the film streaming on Paramount+ later this month. Troye Sivan stars as Caleb, a South Florida teen. On the eve of his high school graduation, everything changes when he's exposed to HIV. While he waits three months for his results, he finds love in the most unlikely of places. Aw this looks really lovely! Better than expected. It also stars Viveik Kalra, Brianne Tju, Ellen Burstyn, Judy Greer, Javier Munoz, Louis Gossett, Jr., and Amy Landecker. I am not sure where this came from but it might be something special. https://onfs.net/3gL4V5y
"What's a bad miracle?" And here we go... Universal has unveiled the first official trailer for Jordan Peele's new film titled simply Nope, which seems to be a sci-fi thriller involving an extraterrestrial appearance in a small town. There's no plot info available but this trailer finally confirms the rumors. It opens with an intro about the Haywood ranch - the first & only Black-owned horse trainers in Hollywood. But then it gets a bit crazy with the arrival of a UFO, everyone starts staring up into the sky, and very strange occurrences around town. Nope's cast includes Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira, Michael Wincott, Donna Mills, and Terry Notary (he must be playing the alien creature). This is a thrilling first look trailer - I still don't know what exactly is going on but I've got the chills and I'm totally sold. Get a look. https://onfs.net/34DFQaj
Get ready for more Cage!! Lionsgate has revealed a fun new full-length official trailer for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, the upcoming action comedy starring Nicolas Cage as ... "Nick Cage"! This new trailer was launched in celebration of The Academy's Global Movie Day this weekend. After all these years, he's finally getting his due in an epic comedy. A cash-strapped Cage agrees to make a paid appearance at a billionaire super fan's birthday party, but is really an informant for the CIA since the billionaire fan is a drug kingpin and gets cast in a Tarantino movie. He is forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones. Nicolas Cage stars, with Pedro Pascal, Neil Patrick Harris, Tiffany Haddish, Sharon Horgan, Jacob Scipio, and Joanna Bobin. This trailer dubs in different languages from around the world, and is mostly made up of footage from the first trailer. Not too many new scenes to see in here, but I'm still excited for this anyway. https://onfs.net/3Lz9qOT
"What can be greater than a King?" DC has revealed a new 60-second trailer hyping up their four upcoming DCEU movies arriving in 2022. The sneak peek is called "The World Needs Heroes" and features footage from their four big movies: The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson & Zoe Kravitz; Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson & Pierce Brosnan; The Flash starring Ezra Miller & Antje Traue & Michael Shannon; and the sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom with, once again, Jason Momoa & Amber Heard & Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. There's some new footage for all of these except Batman. And they all look pretty damn good so far. DC is trying very hard to match Marvel in quality, not in quantity, and while their movies have a different feel they're usually just as epic. "Come with us... there's a glorious world out there waiting for you." https://onfs.net/3rKeVCu
Another amazing, amusing "incredible but true" film from the one-and-only filmmaker Quentin Dupieux! After premiering Mandibles in 2020 at the start of the pandemic, Dupieux is back with another small time, kooky comedy called Incredible But True, originally known as Incroyable Mais Vrai in French. This new film is a commentary on getting older, focusing on one couple and their friends and what happens when they move into a new house and discover its secret. Dupieux makes the best kind of lighthearted, humorous indie cinema. It's hard to explain what it is about his filmmaking that I enjoy so much. His films are always light and wacky and funny and entirely original - there's no one else telling these stories in this way with this kind of quirky humor. Even if he's not making the most brilliant films, they're still entertaining and riotous. https://onfs.net/3LtFkwn
"I did what I had to do... to protect our world." Wow! Don't mess with the Multiverse. Marvel Studios has revealed the full-length main trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just before the start of the Super Bowl shot this year. Following the first teaser on Spidey last year, this trailer reveals a lot more footage than expected. After Strange opened the Multiverse for Peter Parker in No Way Home, causing the calamity that appears in that movie, things have been knocked out of balance and now they don't know what's next. "The Multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little." There's more looks at all the crazy things going on with Evil Strange + Wanda, plus teases of other intriguing Multiverse characters. Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Doctor Strange, along with Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, and Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez - seen in a few scenes here. Directed by Sam Raimi! This still looks as awesome as I was hoping, so dark and twisted. Yeah I can't wait. https://onfs.net/3LsH88O
"Tonight... is movie night!" Netflix has debuted their new 60-second Super Bowl TV spot from the Big Game today, featuring a melange of various films they're releasing through the year. It's a more condensed version of their recent 2022 Movie Preview they posted last week. And it also includes another 30-sec teaser for The Adam Project, which was also revealed with the first trailer last week, too. "After a quick huddle, we're calling an audible and wrapping up our supersized preview with an exclusive new look at our family-friendly, time-travel adventure, The Adam Project. Watch the spot! And after the big game, make tonight a movie night with Netflix." It also features footage from movies like Gray Man, Me Time, The School for Good & Evil, Day Shift, and others. Gotta say, I'm glad Netflix is actually putting a bit more oomph into their promotion recently. All of these look good! Keep an eye out for them and many more on Netflix soon. https://onfs.net/3Bip24y
"Embrace it!" What a badass tease! Disney debuted their impressive 30-second Big Game TV spot for Moon Knight during the game today. The first teaser dropped last month, but this is a better spot overall. Oscar Isaac stars as Marc Spector, a former Marine who suffers from dissociative identity disorder and is granted the powers of an Egyptian moon god. Turning himself into "Moon Knight." But he soon finds out that these newfound powers can be both a blessing and a curse to his troubled life, fighting against his own multiple identities. In addition to Isaac, this series stars Ethan Hawke, Gaspard Ulliel, and May Calamawy. It's debuting in March streaming right away on Disney+. The best shot in this is the one where he jumps and his cape becomes a crescent moon for a half a second. I mean, what?! So cool. I hope this series turns out okay. https://onfs.net/3rNRQyI
"We're not the bad guys... we're just the guys trying to get home!" Universal has also debuted anew 30-second TV spot for Ambulance originally aired during the Super Bowl. This spot is all about Los Angeles as the location for this intense action thriller. In this breakneck thriller from director-producer Michael Bay, two desperate brothers hijack an ambulance with a wounded cop clinging to life and ace EMT onboard, too. In a high-speed pursuit that never stops, Will and Danny must evade a massive, city-wide law enforcement response, keep their hostages alive, and somehow try not to kill each other, all while executing the most insane escape L.A. has ever seen. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Eiza González, and Garret Dillahunt. This is a remake of the 2005 Danish film Ambulancen. We posted the first official trailer last year, and the release has been pushed back to April in a few months. And it still looks worth the wait! This is the kind of full-on action epic that will be an ideal pick for an enjoyable evening at the theaters. https://onfs.net/3JrsJry
"Haven't you ever wondered what else is out there? There's wonders in this world beyond our wandering." It's time for our very first look at footage from Amazon's new Lord of the Rings series, titled The Rings of Power. We've been following this for years and they're finally revealing it after all this time, preparing for release in September. The series brings to screens the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of Tolkien’s Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged... From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone. The big cast includes Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Markella Kavenagh, Sophia Nomvete, Lenny Henry, Charlie Vickers, Megan Richards, and Maxim Baldry. So far so good, looks promising! A new legend begins this fall. https://onfs.net/3oNXr6y
"Why are you the only man who wants to stay with me?" Hulu has revealed a teaser trailer on Valentine's Day for the psychological thriller Deep Water, about a married couple who have fallen out of love. The film stars Ben Affleck & Ana de Armas and is skipping theaters entirely, heading straight to Hulu this March. This is the project when Affleck & de Armas first met and started dating, even though their romance as seen through the gossip rags seems a lot like the plot of the film anyway. Their loveless marriage is held together only by a precarious arrangement whereby, in order to avoid the messiness of divorce, Melinda is allowed to take any number of lovers as long as she does not desert her family. But her husband becomes a suspect when her lovers start showing up dead. Is he the one with a problem or is something else going on? The cast also includes Tracy Letts, Rachel Blanchard, Lil Rel Howery, Finn Wittrock, Jacob Elordi, Dash Mihok, and Kristen Connolly. This is one sultry teaser, oh my!! Don't even need to see more than this. https://onfs.net/3Jwhbn7
"It's the bonds within the pride, the pack, and the herd, that allow each member to succeed." Netflix has debuted an official trailer for another nature documentary titled Surviving Paradise: A Family Tale, all about the animals of the Okavango Delta. The delta is a vast oasis, isolated from the rest of the world by unforgiving desert, found in Botswana in the middle of Africa (check Google Maps). Big cats may appear to reign here, but in reality, the fate of every creature, great and small, is intertwined. This film explores the blueprints for building the perfect world, managing it sustainably, and maintaining it – despite extremes of drought, famine, and flood. Most crucially, the film exciting will spotlight those passing the secret formula on to their descendents. Sounds like it's a bit more than just your usual discovery channel film! Featuring cinematography by Brad Bestelink, and narration by Regé-Jean Page. This looks absolutely incredible, of course, so much astounding footage that always still makes you wonder "how did they get that shot?!" Enjoy. https://onfs.net/3Jrj6cn
"From here on out, we are playing to win!" HBO has revealed the full-length official trailer for Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, a new series about the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. This is a dramatic series, not a doc, and is also the project that Will Ferrell and Adam McKay fought about. The first episode is directed by Adam McKay, who is (of course) a big time Lakers fan. The series tells the story of the rise of basketball Hall Of Famer Magic Johnson (Quincy Isaiah) and the lengths that one man, Jerry Buss (John C. Reilly), will go in pursuit of securing a basketball dynasty. The cast includes all kinds of fun names: Sean Patrick Small as Larry Bird, Sally Field as Jessie Buss, Adrien Brody as Pat Riley, Mike Epps as Pryor, Max E. Williams as Lakers fan Jack Nicholson, Carina Conti as Paula Adbul, Jason Segel as Paul Westhead, Michael Boucher as Jack Curran, Michael AG Scott as Butch Lee, and more! This looks surprisingly good. Not just another sports drama, there's heaps of style and energy in this. https://onfs.net/3sFLkJN
"We'll build a dream! This tower is France's tower." Blue Fox Entertainment has revealed the official US trailer for the French romance Eiffel, set during the building of the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris at the end of the 1800s. The film not only tells of the struggles of celebrated engineer Gustave Eiffel while he creates this famous landmark and works to build it, but also his romance with another woman, a "long lost, forbidden passion that inspires him to change the Paris skyline forever." Oh my. The government is asking Eiffel to design something spectacular for the 1889 Paris World Fair, but Eiffel simply wants to design the subway. Suddenly, everything changes when Eiffel crosses paths with a mysterious woman from his past. Starring Romain Duris as Gustave Eiffel, Emma Mackey as Adrienne Bourgès, and Pierre Deladonchamps as Antoine Restac, with Armande Boulanger, Philippe Hérisson, Andranic Manet, Juliette Blanche. I still want to see this! As cheesy and exaggerated as it is, I'm a sucker for these kind of epic historic dramas. https://onfs.net/3uQFwQw
"This was never meant for your eyes, I'm afraid..." Following festival premieres last year, the first official trailer for an indie horror anthology feature titled Underneath has arrived online. Featuring five terrifying tales bound together by something that waits from beyond... Evil in Chapters! "Underneath is a grassroots, self-financed anthology comprised of five chapters, an epilogue, and several mind-bending vignettes that are all bound together by something unnatural and sinister." The project was conceived by John Nicol, who co-wrote and directed many of the segments as well. "An unstable individual who is convinced that ominous cracks in his basement may in fact be a breach into Hell itself... Is he in direct communication with demons, or has he opened a portal into their realm of terror? Poisoned by the revelation of five tales, he succumbs to the mental strain on his increasingly damaged mind." While this may not be the best horror segments out there, these kind of concepts allow for creative experimentation + crazy ideas that sometimes do work well. https://onfs.net/34EWsyA
