Paramount Pictures has debuted a new 60-second extended TV spot for The Lost City, the travel adventure buddy comedy formerly known as Lost City of D, the modern update on Romancing the Stone - but with Sandra Bullock & Channing Tatum as the two hunky leads. We posted the first official trailer last December. A reclusive romance novelist on a book tour with her cover model gets swept up in a kidnapping attempt that lands them both in a cutthroat jungle adventure. This was filmed last year mostly in the Dominican Republic, including Samaná, Santo Domingo, Casa de Campo, and Pinewood Dominican Republic. At least it's not all fake sets. The eccentric cast also includes Daniel Radcliffe, Patti Harrison, Oscar Nunez, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, and Brad Pitt. "What are you doing here?" A24 has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Alex Garland's new film titled Men, his follow-up to Annihilation and Ex Machina. There's no official synopsis available, but from what we can tell in this trailer, it's more of a horror than a sci-fi film this time. Jessie Buckley stars as a woman who goes on a solo vacation in the English countryside after the death of her ex-husband. It also features Rory Kinnear and Paapa Essiedu, but that's it. Featuring cinematography by Rob Hardy (who also shot Ex Machina, M:I Fallout). This looks super creepy an unsettling, like the scariest parts inside of the zone in Annihilation. "I can't be the only sane man in this asylum." An official trailer has just debuted for a music documentary premiering at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival coming up in March. It's titled In the Court of the Crimson King, profiling 50 years of the British band called King Crimson. They're "not a band. Universal has unveiled the first full-length trailer for a Blumhouse remake of the iconic horror film Firestarter, adapted (again) from the Stephen King novel of the same name. This is set to debut in May, both in theaters and streaming on Peacock. In a new adaptation of King's classic thriller from the producers of The Invisible Man, a girl with extraordinary pyrokinetic powers fights to protect her family and herself from sinister forces that seek to capture and control her. This looks exactly like the modern, gritty update you'd expect - right down to the cliche lines about how she's a "real superhero", even tossing in "liar, liar, pants on fire." "Did you lose something?" "My friend." Netflix has revealed the official trailer for a new "edge-of-your-seat thriller" titled The Weekend Away, about a trip-gone-wrong in Croatia. Ah man, don't make Croatia look scary, too! I've always wanted to visit. A weekend getaway to Croatia goes awry when a woman (Leighton Meester) is accused of killing her best friend (Christina Wolfe) and her efforts to get to the truth uncover a painful secret. From that description this sounds like a thriller version of the Amanda Knox story, which was already turned into the Matt Damon film Stillwater from last year. In addition to Meester & Wolfe, the cast includes Ziad Bakri, Luke Norris, and Amar Bukvic. This looks extra cheesy, with all the partying and all the on-the-run scenes. "Il grande ritorno del maestro!" Wait, you're telling me Dario Argento made another new film?! Yes he did! And it's probably not going to be any good, but here we go anyway. Argento's latest is Dark Glasses, also known as Black Glasses, another new mystery thriller horror with all his usual blood and violence. It's the first film he has made since Dracula 3D in 2012, which pretty much no one saw anyway. Dark Glasses is premiering first at the 2022 Berlin Film Festival this month, then it will open in Italy at the end of February. Diana, a young woman who lost her sight, finds a guide in a Chinese boy named Chin. Together they will track down a dangerous killer through the darkness of Italy. The cat includes Ilenia Pastorelli as Diana, Andrea Zhang as Chin, with Asia Argento (of course), Andrea Gherpelli, Mario Pirrello, and Maria Rosaria Russo. I've got a feeling this is going to be really bad, but who knows. He once was a master, but has lost his touch. "Why help us?" Capital Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie sci-fi called Beyond Existence, made by filmmaker Schuman Hoque. It's premiering soon at the Boston SciFi Film Fest and then will end up on VOD later this year. "What happens to our world when technology exceeds humanity?" The film follows Ellen, a government agent who is forced to protect a professor who holds a deadly secret. Ellen must help The Professor evade an immortal bounty hunter in order to save the human race. Featuring performances from Amelia Clay, Gary MacKay, Pauline Turner. "Yeah... we don't exactly hug." MGM has debuted a cute 60-second trailer for Dog to celebrate Valentine's Day. This adorable comedy is opening in a few more weeks, hence the final marketing push. Disgraced Army Ranger Briggs and his Belgian Malinois companion Lulu race down the Pacific Coast in time to catch their best friend's and her handler's funeral. IFC Films has revealed the full official US trailer for the chilling drama Nitram, the latest film from gritty Australian filmmaker Justin Kurzel. This premiered at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival last year, where Caleb Landry Jones won the Best Actor award at the end of the festival. It focuses on a young man named Nitram, and the occurrences leading up to the 1996 Port Arthur massacre on Tasmania (Australia's worst mass shooting) in an attempt to understand why and how the atrocity occurred. The title is a reference to the name of the actual person, as it's about him and the last few months before the tragedy. Caleb Landry Jones stars as Nitram, and the fantastic cast includes Essie Davis, Anthony LaPaglia, Judy Davis, and Sean Keenan. "Otherwordly." The Cinema Guild in NYC has revealed the first official trailer for Rock Bottom Riser, a compelling experimental documentary project made by filmmaker Fern Silva. This first premiered at last year's Berlin Film Festival and it also stopped by a number of festivals throughout 2021. Artist Fern Silva's doc features live footage of Hawaiian volcanoes spouting lava - along with abstract shots of Hawaii, acting as subtle commentary on a number of different topics. From the earliest voyagers who navigated by starlight, to present-day astronomers scanning the cosmos for habitable planets, explorers have long made Hawaii the hub for their searching. Today—as lava continues to flow on the island—another crisis mounts as scientists plan to build the world’s largest telescope on Mauna Kea, Hawaii’s most sacred and revered mountain. "Where the hell is this 'stranger?'" HBO Max has revealed the first full trailer for their new mini-series The Tourist, originally made for BBC One and Stan in Australia. So - who is he? When a man wakes up with amnesia in an Australian hospital, he must use what few clues he has to discover his identity before his past catches up with him. In the first scene, the protagonist is driving through the outback pursued by a truck whose driver is trying to run him off the road. This stars Jamie Dornan as "The Man", plus an ensemble cast including Danielle Macdonald, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Genevieve Lemon, Alex Dimitriades, and Damon Herriman. As mysterious as this all is, the trailer pretty much reveals most of who he is - some kind of criminal involved in some kind of problem with other gangsters. When he heard about her declining health, he decides to go meet her in another city, though soon she will learn that he is blind and paralyzed from the chest down. The film is shot from a blind man's perspective, starring Petri Poikolainen, a blind and wheelchair-bound actor in a gripping debut performance. Wow. The filmmaker's style is best described as good-willed yet unapologetic political satire of humanity. "He has never see the movie Titanic." Ha! Also starring Marjaana Maijala as Sirpa. This looks great! I missed this one at the festivals but it seems like a really sweet, honest, and fascinating film about the life of a blind man in Finland.
