Square Enix trademarks Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy Adventure in North America

Square Enix has filed trademark for Final Fantasy Adventure and Secret of Mana in United States. Siliconera reports that Square Enix had previously filed for a couple of Mana-series trademarks in Europe, and that they have since found two more trademarks related to Mana; this time for the U.S.
The first Mana game was originally released in North America under the name Final Fantasy Adventure, with it’s sequel coming to North America and Europe as Secret of Mana. The third installment, Seiken Densetsu 3, has never officially made it to Western shores. All three games have since been rereleased together as the Seiken Densetsu Collection in Japan for the Nintendo Switch.
While these trademarks are no guarantee for the Seiken Densetsu Collection coming to the West, as Siliconera points out that only two of the three titles have been trademarked, it should be noted that Square Enix is aware of the demands for a Western localization.

Final Fantasy XIV server reorganization set for April in North America and Europe

This Spring, Square Enix plans to beef up its server infrastructure to better handle the influx of players that will access the game for July Shadowbringers expansion. You may recall congestion woes during the early access phase preceding the Stormblood expansion where players were bottle-necked in story progress due to the servers needing to create an individual instance for each player.
In order to execute this, the team announced that they needed to reorganize the β€˜World’ groupings. Currently, Final Fantasy XIV’s worlds represent everyone you can see in-game outside of instanced duties β€” when you use matchmaking features like the Duty Finder, it pulls from all worlds in your data center.
With that in mind, the team is also implementing a new feature before the Shadowbringers expansion which will allow you to visit other worlds on your data center by using the main aetheryte in each of the three initial city-states. However, if your world is moved to a new data center, you won’t be able to interact with people in worlds in your previous data center.
Square Enix has shared a new post on the Lodestone that details which worlds are moving where for the reorganization. World reorganization is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2nd in Europe and Tuesday, April 23rd in North America β€” both will be accompanied by a maintenance session.
In order to ease the transition for players, Square Enix is offering a free world transfer application for a two-week period following your region’s reorganization date. So that’s April 15th at the latest for European players and May 6th for North American players.
Europe – Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019
North America – Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019
Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers will release on July 2nd, 2019 for Windows PC, Steam, and PlayStation 4, and Mac.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition coming to Steam and PlayStation 4 this March

Square Enix has announced that their fast-paced team brawler title Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition is coming to PC (Steam) and PlayStation 4 on March 12, 2019.
Similar to the Japan release, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition allows players the chance to try out a limited roster of characters on a weekly basis, with a variety of characters and weapons being available for individual purchase for players to keep. Players of the free edition can also play online against existing players of the full game, however, it should be noted that an active PlayStation Plus sub is still required to play online for PS4 users.
Additionally, for Steam users, the full game will also be made available on March 12th and will include both the standard and deluxe editions.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is available now for PlayStation 4, with the Free and Steam editions scheduled to release on March 12, 2019.

Final Fantasy XIV 4.56 set for March 26th, includes main scenario and Hildibrand finale

Final Fantasy XIV 4.56 is set to arrive on Tuesday, March 26th, and with it will come the finale of the post-Stormblood main scenario quests in A Requiem for Heroes – Part II, Even Further Hildibrand Adventures, and the Stormblood Beast Tribe Quests. Today, Square Enix provided more details on what’s to come.
On a related note, Square Enix will hold a Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Japan this weekend, wherein more information about July’s Shadowbringers expansion will be divulged. You can check out the stage schedule. The keynote will kick off this Friday, March 22nd, at 6:30PM Pacific Daylight Time.
A Requiem for Heroes – Part II
β€œWith their negotiations in tatters, the Eorzean Alliance must shore up its defenses as the Empire brings its might to bear on the Ala Mhigan border. In a bid to tip the scales, the Warrior of Light rushes to join the fray , and all the while a mysterious voice becons… Can Eorzea’s champion resist the call, or will this otherworldly requiem claim its final victim?”
Even Further Hildibrand Adventures
β€œWhat a wretched state of affairs it is, to have Shigure detained for aiding and abetting the escape of the Wolf Burglar, when it was more or less my brilliant idea! Justice and guilt–but mostly justice!–compel me to remedy this situation with all due alacrity, and to that end I would investigate the questionable activities of Master Akebono who is doubtless the villain at the heart of these dark intrigues. Yet what is this curious sensation, this forboding familiarity which gnaws at my breast? Could it be…a long-lost fan?”
Stormblood Beast Tribe Quests
β€œA spectacular tale awaits in the Far East, where the Ananta, Kojin, and Namazu meet at last. But for them to come together, things must first fall apart.”

Special Guest: World Lore Creator β€” Banri Oda
(Questions and answers are paraphrased.)
Q: What does a β€˜world lore creator’ do?
He has two jobs: world lore creator and scenario team lead. With creating the world lore, you have to check a lot of documentation including quest text. As the scenario lead, he comes up with the story ideas and the team will write a scenario accordingly. Yoshida brings the team on a retreat to a hotel where they lay the groundwork for an expansion story.
Q: What inspires your writing?
A: He reads a lot of books, documentaries, National Geographic. He cites a book from the 1800s for inspiration for the Namazu.
Q: What kind of books to you like the best?
Fantasy and history.
Q: What’s a day in the life like for Banri Oda?
Checking your email, and then whatever the dev team needs. Thinking up core concepts for the patches. After things are created, I will do checks. After its finalized I will do final checks. In between I will write help text. He works closely with Yoshida in which they have a scenario team meeting every week.
Q: Are there any books or movies that you would recommend?
A: A lot of things β€” Thomas Bullfinch’s β€˜Legends of Charlemagne’. Weapon names have come from this.
Q: What character or story left the big impression?
A: He doesn’t want to show favoritism to a character. One event scene he liked was in Stormblood where you play as Alphinaud. Up until that point it was hard to show story beats the Warrior of Light was not involved in. It was something they really wanted to create. They had to go to Yoshida for permission to do this. The climax of the Namazu beast tribe quests where the screen splits into four. To create this they were four images transposed on a black background with the main character. Yoshida says it’s hard to do new things in the main scenario β€” so you won’t see things we haven’t tried before in it. In sidequests, however, they can test them and see if they’ll work out in the main scenario setting. Now maybe they could use that effect in the Namazu quest in, say, Mahjong.
Q: I heard you have weekend retreats with Yoshida to work on the main story?
A: It’s a bui...
