While there exist very few rules to how a scene may be shot and what that manner of shooting can effectuate - there is a visual grammar to cinema. It is as fluid and flexible as cinema itself, and the best way to read it, is to look at your favourite scene and try and figure out how it works. Here's a reading of one of our favourite scenes from Swades.
