Comparing crime offenses from Q3-Q4 2019 against Q3-Q4 2022 by offense type and Garda Division. Detailed breakdown with percentage increases.
While stating that rape and sexual incidents increased by only 20% from H2 2019 (pre-lockdown) to H2 2022 (post-plantation) is true, it conceals the true magnitude of increases in certain areas.

Burglary is infact down 50% comparing Q3-Q4 2019 with Q3-Q4 2022. Covid Lockdown messed with crime patterns. Be careful trying to compare data from 2021 vs 2022. Pre Pandemic vs Post Plantation / Pandemic comparison is more useful untill we get into 2023.

It's much harder to burgle houses when people are more likely to be working from home (post pandemic)
What about those huge rises in "Offences against government and its agents" tho.. ๐Ÿ‘€
When determining "local" rises in crime, it makes more sense to focus on commonly occurring offenses like theft or violent crimes that have a higher occurrence than murder. This can help in identifying hotspots. Three murders in one county in 2022 compared to one murder in 2021 or 2019 may indicate a "horrific 200% increase in murder", but it doesn't provide much insight because of the low occurrence rate. Murder rates, as well as other low occurrence crimes, are much better reported at a national level. In contrast, instances of harassment or threats to kill, etc., when reported at the county or garda division level, give a much clearer picture of a rising tide of local violence.

The pattern makes no sense unless Divisions are classifying some rape as sexual assaults and vice versa.
Over the next few years, society will be increasing organised around a tiered hierarchy of autonomous ai agents. You will have personal agents, family agents, business agents, local authority agents, national government agents and possibly world government agents. The only way that this structure can work securely is with blockchain acting as a safety net between them. I dont particularly see this as orwellian yet, and trust me no government is planning this, nor can they.. it's going to happen regardless. Make sure to hoard pdfs , books, knowledge etc you have that you could use in personal agents in the future. Dont be afraid to look into the benefits of blockchain and DAOs because its the saving grace for an autonomous AI that could get out of control. I think crypto technology will do really well in the next couple of years because AI control is the best real world use case outside of bitcoin . Regarding CDBCs people give the governments way too much credit for technological innovation. The French just released a prototype of a digital Euro and the tech got absoluely laughed out of the park. Government Beurocrats trying to give requirements to second rate technological consultants will never ever beat open source innovation driven by thousands of 20 - 35 year olds coders fueled by ritalin and monster energy drinks.

The notion that Michael Martin or Donie Cassidy types will be the gatekeepers of some superintelligent national AI in 10 years is hilarious and ludacris. Same for CDBC systems. Any government department with a plan for 2030 has absolutely nothing in it regarding AI bar "it's going todo stuff". You can tear up all their plans right now. Why bother trying to solve climate change crisis if something that could solve it better than humans is on the horizon.

This crackdown on ChatGPT acting as a mock lawyer is a bit of a pain in the hole. The democratization of legal tools and the ability to simplify complex legal terminology, and its reverse, creating legal arguments from simple inputs, is something I saw as good coming from AI for everyone. There will be ways around this, for example, using different large language models than OpenAI, but they won't be quite as accessible for a while. You need a GPU to run them. Giving the average person the tools to challenge the system in a cost-effective manner was something unexpected to come from this technology. You won't ever see a disclaimer or refusal when asking it to generate code that won't work or damage your computer. (Please talk to a qualified software engineer, etc.). Society can't accelerate to a better place with technology when you have one plane embracing change or even being forced to accept it (writers and artists, coders) while another has a protective wall around it (lawyers). Something will have to give.

A moat is a protective / defensive layer around a company, that differentiates it from competitors. What happens when smart employees laid off from software companies have too much time on their hands and tools like this? They can start competitors to their employers with much less costs. This *could* be the end for big tech https://simonwillison.net/2023/May/4/no-moat/
