Jane Hissi (born 1952) is a British writer and illustrator of children's books.
She is best known for her series of children's books, The Old Bear and His Friends, which formed the basis for the BAFTA Award-winning television series Tales of the Old Bear.
Hissi was born in Norwich and studied design and illustration in Brighton. The author of a 40-episode animated series about the adventures of a teddy bear and his friends, winner of the BAFTA Television Award in the nomination "Best Children's Program".

One day, after staring at the cobwebs by the fence, Simonov feels a child's hand in his hand: it turns out to be a girl named Janet (Janet), about five or six years old, the daughter of a newspaper saleswoman. Simonov takes a liking to the girl and always tries to see her as he walks around the block. One day, lingering in the Bois de Boulogne during a thunderstorm, Simonov stumbles upon a frightened Janet, whom he brings home.

While walking through the Bois de Boulogne, when the professor is mentally talking to himself, the story of family life becomes known, which "turned out somehow wrong, lopsided, ridiculous, disjointed and uncomfortable." Once, as a young and promising associate professor, Simonov almost accidentally married the daughter of a prominent professor, they had two daughters, but soon the couple realized that they had nothing in common, and divorced. The daughters stayed with their mother in St. Petersburg, but Simonov returned to Moscow and hardly saw his daughters anymore.
