Like Clements, I am thoughtful about why I am not rejecting my support for Trump, even as I worry about what he is commanding our military to do in Iran. I remember some who championed him when he was infuriating the Never Trumpers in 2016 who now claim he is a fraud. I remember others who stood by, convinced up to the moment of Biden's inauguration in January 2021 that Trump would "cross the Rubicon," who now claim he isn't even Trump. I remember what it was like during COVID, rejecting his trumpeting of the vaccine, but I also remember the overturning of Roe v Wade. I think it is very easy to be on side when the team is winning, and I wonder about my friends who were there when they believed Trump would be their championโ€”perhaps, their own personal championโ€”and who now declare themselves Never Again Trumpers. And I wonder why I am not getting the vibes off of Trump that I got off of Obama, for whom I voted in 2008, but not in 2012, after things turned... odd. In any case, I am thoughtful. And praying for the people of the Middle East that they be liberated from the Empire that has used them for the past 80 years to stoke endless wars.
