Federico's funeral took place today. We have gathered at 8:30 am in a small room with the coffin. We paid our respect by lighting the incense and covering the body with flowers. It was not possible to photograph or film the rest of the ritual. The coffin was then moved to the cremation room and into the furnace. We have waited in a room where tea and snacks were served. After an hour we returned to the cremation location. There was a table with a tray lined with crushed bones. The table was moved closer. As family, I had to move the bones into the urn. The urn was placed in a box and will remain in the funeral location until I'm able to bring it to Italy. After the funeral we had a picnic in the park. It was sunny.

Until today Federico remained in the funeral house. He was honoured daily with a local ritual. Today he came home. We will bring him to Italy on the 30th of May and he will then remain in his parents' house.
