Some kidnappers reportedly abducted three people inside Dugu Forest, and among the victims were two siblings from the same family. The kidnappers later allowed the two siblings to speak with their parents and demanded a ransom of about ₦20 million for their release. The family was trying everything possible to raise the money because it involved two of their children, and the situation was very worrying for them. However, before any ransom could be paid, the Nigerian Army stormed the forest in a major operation. During the raid, many of the bandits were neutralized despite the heavy weapons they were carrying, and the kidnappers were not given the chance to continue their activities.
In the end, the three kidnapped victims were successfully rescued, and the ransom was never paid. Many people have praised the military for the operation, saying this is the kind of decisive action Nigerians want to see more often.
