Leo Frank's pardon, granted by the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles on March 11, 1986, specifically addressed the state's failure to protect him rather than his guilt or innocence. The text of the pardon states:

"Without attempting to address the question of guilt or innocence, and in recognition of the State's failure to protect the person of Leo M. Frank and thereby preserve his opportunity for continued legal appeal of his conviction, and in recognition of the State's failure to bring his killers to justice, and as an effort to heal old wounds, the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, in compliance with its Constitutional and statutory authority, hereby grants to Leo M. Frank a Pardon."

I find Keith Woods' arguments against National Socialism bizarre for many reasons. Though primarily, It may as well be an argument against nationalism itself. If the German National Socialists were so bad, what would stop ethnic chauvinism from developing again in any nationalist country? What scientifically proven or historically demonstrated way does Woods have to keep a nationalist state from becoming chauvinistic?

What makes Woods' abstract "nationalism" so special? Herein lies the major flaw in advocates of nationalism who oppose racialism. While I reject much of what woods has claimed about NS Germany, I would go so far as to agree and amplify Woods' unintentional argument. Woods' is positing an abstract form of nationalism that ignores the realities of human nature and that of power structures. His form of "nationalism" only exists in his head. Nationalism will always lead to conflict with other nations.

Any and every state is by its very nature in competition with every other state, and particularly those states which reside on its border. If this is, and will always be the case, then should we not prefer to share the same state with all of our race? Should not the borders of our state lay adjacent only to that of racial aliens?
