this is something that i stumbled upon a few days ago while i was looking at why nuclear is still seen quite badly in southern europe but it’s actually something that involves pretty much the whole world and idk how to introduce it so
in case you were feeling like not sleeping tonight i want to remind you that around the world (mostly in the mediterranean, but this has been done everywhere by different criminal and not criminal entities) there are (allegedly, according to confessions by turncoats) several deliberately sunken ships containing extremely toxic waste (including nuclear one) waiting to fuck up everything like timebombs
and if that wasn’t enough third world countries like somalia were used as open dumping grounds for the worst kind of nuclear toxic shit leading to the local population suffering some of the worst generational pain imaginable
and that in the same year (1994) 2 journalists (ilaria alpi and her cameraman moran hrovatin) and 2 “guardia di finanza” investigators (volpe 132 helicopters) were killed trying to figure out more about these (and more) cases and pin down who was behind all of this, with their details about their deaths being covered up by people high up in the government of several countries
anyway, here is a cool map about this shit, focused on the mediterranean
https://www.infondoalmar.info
edit: just wanted to clarify something: the deaths themselves were not covered up (and except for ilaria alpi and her cameraman who were literally in somalia investigating on this when they were killed) AND the connections of some mysterious deaths to this whole thing are often alleged
but every single investigation about what happened/who could possibly be behind them was either derailed or the details were sealed for "security reasons" whiiiiiich has made it pretty much impossible to figure anything out
just wanted to make sure i actually talked about this properly sry

tldr: there are actual nuclear waste sunken ship timebombs around the world that at any moment for any reason could become a huge issue and we often either have no idea where to find them precisely or how to recover them
can i say, as a euro, that (in general) letting foreign payment processors regulate what we can buy and cannot is extremely cucked on our part and we should not let this be possible lol
context but this is not the first time/not the only reason this happens since they can decide pretty much on a whim and probably won't be the last:

An absolute mess.

Windows hasn’t been halfway decent since around when it stopped using progression bars as the boot animation

i have been using endeavouros on my laptop for the past 3 months for everything except video editing and music making and honestly the experience has been such a breeze compared to windows i can definitely see how desktop linux will probably take over in the next few years

The polycarbonate body, translucent blue casing: not plastic, polycarbonate, reinforced for both durability and aesthetic precision. Not afraid of looking like a toy because it knows exactly what it is: a precision instrument, a rugged tool disguised in playful irreverence. Survival gear posing as a child's plaything. A glance at the cover page of its quick guide reveals the tasteful off-white background, bordering on eggshell, minimalistic yet assertive. Notice the sans-serif font choice: but the true craftsmanship? The monochrome LCD screen: sharp, stark, obsessively pixel-perfect. Each graphic, each digit, arranged with the calculated austerity of a Saab fighter jet’s cockpit instrumentation. No superfluous detail, just cold numeric precision. Coordinates, bearings, distances, all displayed with the uncompromising clarity of Swedish aerospace engineering. Pure function. Pure efficiency. Pure confidence.

my completely baseless hot take based on nothing but thin air is that due to the current political tensions and just because i know how stuff usually goes in my back yard
if huawei manages to get the price of these down/starts selling them at a loss some EU countries are going to partially shift to these/similar systems mostly as posturing after what's going on with the US lately and if that happens then we are going to see yet more polarization and idk this is kinda based on nothing but also like exactly what i think is going to happen (we are still regularly buying huawei stuff for telecom networks after all)

TIL that in the 1997 - 2000 period there was such a huge traffic in smuggling cigarettes from Albania to Southern Italy that that gangs deployed “monster” cars on the A16 highway (armored with steel plates, reinforced bumpers for ramming, fake blue police lights, rear lamps to blind pursuers, spike and oil dispensers even silicone-filled tires) forcing the Italian government to send over 3,100 officers and spend 4.45 billion lire (≈ €2.3 million) on equally modified vehicles to stop them
