The Sandbox has confirmed a bridge exploit that allowed attackers to mint unbacked $SAND on Base and BNB Smart Chain.

More than $49 billion worth of SAND was minted across 400+ transactions, although the actual impact remained below 0.01% of the total supply. Ethereum and Polygon were unaffected, with no user wallets compromised.

😁 Bridging on Base and BSC has been disabled as the team investigates.
