Bless those who mourn, eternal God, with the comfort of your love that they may face each new day with hope and the certainty that nothing can destroy the good that has been given. May their memories become joyful, their days enriched with friendship, and their lives encircled by your love.

I think when people take issue with science and couch it in some protest that science denies God they have slightly missed the point. Science is nothing less than the language of God (a term I stole from a very august scientist). What could be a purer way to serve God than to decode the script of this world which he created for us? The problem isn’t science it is scientists, more specifically the doctrine of scientists I.e the scientific method; show things definitively in a controlled environment and do it multiple times to prove your point. This breeds atheism because faith doesn’t work that way and so we stumble and try and grope our way through the world missing the point entirely and scientists having no constraints on their research by the moral law of God. It’s a shame that society adopted the scientific method as default point of view to try and make sense of the world which led to atheism. But who could claim it brought joy to the heart of the father (who loves us) to watch the majority of his children die of communicable diseases before they reached 18 until 100 or so years ago with the invention of penicillin? And was God not at work in those who discovered it?

Let science and religion be wed. Let science not take place in a vacuum which leads to ungodly abominations like abortion but be ordered to the service and glorification of him who gave us reason and the capacity to heal our brothers. We need science to assist our brothers, or, more succinctly, “and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?”.

TL;DR: The antiscience people need to stop being a Luddites, you make us look stupid and bring us all down with your medievalist mindset. Please reply in only chudjaks and soundbites.

God can always save you

Heavenly Father, I know and believe that our times are in Your hands, but Lord it’s so often such a shock to us when a dear loved one meets with a sudden or unexpected death, through an accident or perhaps due to some unforeseen tragedy, which takes the life of someone long before it would be expected.

Lord, I bring before You today those who are having to go through such a tragic loss, and pray that You would be very close to each one that is in mourning today over such a loss, and are perhaps confused or even angry that such a devastating occurrence has overtaken them, without any apparent warning.

You are the God of all comfort Who comforts us in time of need, and I pray that for those that are facing such a difficult trial today. Uphold them and draw very close to them. Raise up I pray, the right people to minister to them and to be a genuine comfort and support at this time of tragedy and grief.
