“How can you define love? The perception of imperfection as endearing. It is the emotion that doesn’t recognise flaws and sees only perfect imperfection.”

Socrates, circa 2024

"However, all bad thoughts are not equally sinful: nor have all those that are sinful equal malice. In a bad thought we may consider three things: the suggestion, the delectation, and the consent. The suggestion is the first bad thought that is presented to the mind: this is no sin, but, when rejected is an occasion of merit. ”As often," says St. Antonine, ”as you resist, you are crowned." The delectation takes place when the person stops, as it were, to look at the bad thought, which by its pleasing appearance, causes delight. Unless the will consents to it, this delectation is not a mortal sin; but it is a venial sin, and, if not resisted, the soul is in danger of consenting to it: but, when this danger is not proximate, the sin is only venial. But it is necessary to remark, that, when the thought which excites the delight is against chastity, we are, according to the common opinion of theologians, bound under pain of mortal sin to give a positive resistance to the delectation caused by the thought; because, if not resisted, the delight easily obtains the consent of the will. ”Unless a person repel delectations," says St. Anselm, ”the delight passes to consent, and kills the soul." (S. Ans. Simil., c. xl.) Hence, though a person should not consent to the sin, if he delight in the obscene object, and do not endeavour to resist the delectation, he is guilty of a mortal sin, by exposing himself to the proximate danger of consent. ”How long shall hurtful thoughts abide in thee." (Jer. iv. 14.) Why, says the Prophet, do you allow hurtful thoughts to remain in the mind? Why do you not make an effort to banish them from the heart? God wishes us to watch over the heart with great care; because on the heart that is, the will our life depends. ”With all watchfulness keep thy heart, because life issueth out from it." (Prov. iv. 23.) Finally, the consent, which is the cause of mortal sin, takes place when the person clearly knows that the object is mortally sinful, and embraces it perfectly with the will."

- St. Alphonsus Ligouri, Sermon 47, Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost. On Bad Thoughts.

ALERT - Catholic priest Father Chad Ripperger, a well-known exorcist and author, is warning that false AI generated YouTube videos are circulating, imitating him and fabricating accounts. He sent this message to SpiritDaily and they published it today, August 7, 2024:

“For over three months, my media lawyer has been working with Youtube to get them to get to take down the videos on Most Holy Trinity and its affiliate Spiritual Messengers,” he says. “Youtube has admitted that it is impersonation and illegal but refuses to take the videos down. The author (the same for both channels) puts my face and name on the videos and then literally makes things up, claiming I am having visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Michael which is completely contrary to the truth.

“The channel also claims to have official information from me but this is a complete falsehood. As I mentioned, we have over forty requests to Youtube to require the author to take the videos down because they do not reflect either my personal experience or even my theological thought regarding certain topics. Even when my media lawyer contacted the author of the channel, she essentially ‘gave him the finger’ and attacked him verbally. Even the images they use are copyright-protected and Youtube has been notified of that and yet they still refuse to take down the channels. I talk about this problem in the video below]. As time goes not the claims of these two channels gets stranger and stranger. I appreciate your taking the time on this. God bless.”

Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow; the same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering, or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it.

-St. Francis De Sales
1 Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to the royal son!
2 May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice!
3 Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness!
4 May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor!
5 May they fear you while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations!
6 May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth!
7 In his days may the righteous flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more!
8 May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth!
9 May desert tribes bow down before him, and his enemies lick the dust!
10 May the kings of Tarshish and of the coastlands render him tribute; may the kings of Sheba and Seba bring gifts!
11 May all kings fall down before him, all nations serve him!
12 For he delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper.
13 He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the needy.
14 From oppression and violence he redeems their life, and precious is their blood in his sight.
15 Long may he live; may gold of Sheba be given to him! May prayer be made for him continually, and blessings invoked for him all the day!
16 May there be abundance of grain in the land; on the tops of the mountains may it wave; may its fruit be like Lebanon; and may people blossom in the cities like the grass of the field!
17 May his name endure forever, his fame continue as long as the sun! May people be blessed in him, all nations call him blessed!
18 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.
19 Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen!
20 The prayers of David, the son of Jesse, are ended.

THIS IS HOW THE VIRGIN MARY DIED ACCORDING TO SAN JUAN DAMASCENO, DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH🇻🇦🕊

“The Mother of God did not die of illness, because she did not have to receive the punishment of illness because she had no original sin. She did not die of old age, because she did not have to grow old, since the punishment for the sin of the first parents did not come to her: growing old and ending up due to weakness. She died of love. The desire to go to heaven where her Son was was so great that this love made her die.

Some fourteen years after the death of Jesus, when she had already spent all her time teaching the religion of the Saviour to young and old, when she had comforted so many sad people and helped so many sick and dying, she let the Apostles know that now the date of leaving this world for eternity was approaching.

The Apostles loved her as the kindest of all mothers, and they hastened to travel to receive from her maternal lips her last counsel, and from her sacrosanct hands her last blessing.

They arrived, and with copious tears, and on their knees, they kissed those holy hands that had so many times blessed them. For each one of them the exalted Lady had words of comfort and hope. And then, like someone who falls asleep in the most placid of dreams, it was She, the Holy, closing her eyes; and her soul a thousand times blessed, departed for eternity.

The news spread throughout the city, and there was not a Christian who did not come to mourn with his body, as for the death of his own mother. His burial looked more like an Easter procession than a funeral. Everyone sang the Hallelujah with the strongest hope that they now had a most powerful Protector in heaven, to intercede for each one of Jesus' disciples.
Very soft but strong aromas were felt in the air, and each one seemed to hear very soft harmonies of music. But, Thomas the Apostle, he had not been able to arrive on time. When he arrived they had already returned from burying the Blessed Mother.

“Peter,” - said Thomas- “You cannot deny me the great favour of being able to go to the tomb of my most loving mother and give one last kiss to those holy hands that blessed me so many times.” And Peter accepted.

They all went to the Holy Sepulchre, and when they were close they began to feel again very soft aromas in the environment and harmonious music in the air.

They opened the tomb and instead of seeing the body of the Virgin they only found… a great quantity of very beautiful flowers. Jesus Christ had come, He had raised His Blessed Mother and taken her to heaven.

This is what we call The Assumption of the Virgin Mary.

And who of us, if he had the powers of the Son of God, would not have done the same with his own Mother?

The Death of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Early Christian writers inform us that the blessed Virgin Mary dwelt in Ephesus, a city in Asia Minor, where her Christ-given son, St. John the Evangelist, was made Bishop. We are also assured that the Christians of Ephesus cherished a special reverence and veneration for her, and that in this honored city was built the first church in memory of the Blessed Virgin. In the year 431, the Council of the Church, held in Ephesus, solemnly proclaimed Mary's dignity and title as The Mother of God.

In the last years of her life, we are told, Mary yearned to return again to the land sacred to the memory of her divine Son Jesus. How long she lived in Jerusalem before she died is not certain, but it is generally admitted that there it was she fell asleep in the Lord. With all faith we believe that the earthly life of the Blessed Virgin was closed in the same calm, peaceful, and gentle manner in which she had lived. The Fathers of the Church tell us that an angel of the Lord informed her of her approaching death, and surely when she lay down to die one of the Apostles anointed her with holy oil in the name of the Lord and gave her the Viaticum. The martyrdom of St. James, the Bishop of Jerusalem, assembled the remaining Apostles in the Holy City about the time of the death of the Blessed Virgin. Doubtless, the hand of God, working through His ministers, had gathered them there, that they might be present at the deathbed of the Mother who had given them their blessed Master. Mary looked affectionately upon the Apostles of her divine Son, advised and consoled them, with a mother's solicitude exhorted them to renewed zeal in spreading the Kingdom of God, blessed them and the women gathered about, and, as they all gazed silently and tearfully upon the enraptured countenance of the dying Mother, her virginal soul, surrounded by angels, went forth to God.

Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.
