โญ๏ธ Russia and China Plan Cross-Border Hydrogen Corridor

Russia and China are exploring the creation of a cross-border hydrogen transport corridor. A memorandum has been signed by RT-Business Development (part of Rostec) together with Chinese investors.

The project envisions localized hydrogen production facilities along major highways, combined with a network of refueling infrastructure. This would enable hydrogen-powered freight transport between the two countries. No official timeline has been announced yet.

Using hydrogen as fuel for heavy-duty trucks could significantly reduce COโ‚‚ emissions, extend driving range, allow fast refueling, and ensure stable operation in harsh climates such as Siberia and the Russian Far East.

โ–ถ๏ธ According to Gruzopotok, China already operates five dedicated hydrogen corridors with over 1,000 hydrogen trucks in use. For Russia, this would be a pioneering initiative.

๐Ÿ’ง China May Ban Sulfuric Acid Exports Starting May 2026

China is reportedly planning to ban exports of sulfuric acid from May 2026 due to disruptions in sulfur supplies from the Middle East, according to Bloomberg citing industry sources.

The restriction would apply to sulfuric acid produced as a byproduct of copper and zinc smelting in China. The move is aimed at preserving domestic supply during the peak agricultural planting season.

If officially implemented, the ban could put additional pressure on global marketsโ€”particularly impacting the metallurgical sector and fertilizer production.

โ–ถ๏ธ Notably, the global sulfur shortage continues to intensify, driving prices higher. Earlier, Russian fertilizer producers called for price caps on sulfur amid rising costs. Russia has already imposed a ban on exports of technical sulfur until June 30, 2026.
