I think majority of online alt discourse and arguments about what and who is a real alt and what's not is bs

If outside in the open you see someone who visibly stand out, and they can hold a convo with you for more than 10 minute about whatever subculture they associate with, they're alt

People are either in alt-off with each other trying to claim anyone who's not doing as much as they're isn't actually alt

Or on the complete other side, people are watering down alternative subcultures to literally one or two things and completely dismissing everything else about them

As an alt the thing I’m the most tired of is people “better” alts shaming others alts on literally anything and everything they do, throwing the word “poser” or “larper” around like it’s that simple because it’s really not

Another thing that lwk pmo about the alt community is the communism and yes I get that being alternative does have strong roots to politics and especially communism and there’s no place for right winged people but the amount of extremism that exists in it if you’re not extreme left and you’re middle left then you’re not an alt either
