The eclipse is happening today I’m so excited
Jester's second act
Aside from any environmental effects, and purely based on its morality, I don't mind people generating pics with ai bots But few conditions and rules have to be set in place first, which i don't think they're too far anyway. (People and specially big companies…
These seem SEEM simple but ai is much bigger than just “consenting rights” and labeling stuff as ai generated.

First off with consenting rights, that doesn’t stop people from using other people’s artwork. I doubt there will ever be a law to make it illegal at all. Any laws going to make ai illegal is gonna be towards deepfakes. Also a very VERY big majority of artists do not like ai and will never allow their art to be fed to ai and yet it still happens. Why? Because ai users don’t care about that.

The labelling ai generated stuff? Yeah that doesn’t work on all platforms. Pinterest as an example labels actual human stuff as ai sometimes when it’s not. Not even those systems are correctly functioning.

And for other points bigger than these two, as you mentioned, ai uses from stuff beforehand. Art BEFOREHAND. It takes from MULTIPLE artists but where do the funds for those artists go? Nowhere. It’s stolen art.

Also if I remember correctly you stated you don’t think ai will steal jobs but it very much has 😭 If I had a nickel for everytime I saw a reel or post of an animator or artist getting laid off from their company because their company preferred to us ai and fired employees, I’d have more than 6. Now that’s just the people who talk about it, genuinely imagine it on a larger scale. Ai IS a threat to jobs and WILL take jobs away and HAS started to take them away… if it wasn’t for public outrage of people finding Ai ads from big companies cheap and SOMETIMES even boycotting, then at this point every single company would’ve used Ai by now. If there aren’t people literally protesting to how it’s stealing jobs, it looks tacky, cheap and it’s wasting water, then Ai would’ve taken much more jobs than before.

I’m not really sure what major you have jester but for example someone like me who genuinely wants to pick art and graphic design as a major, go to uni and get a job in that field, Ai is a MASSIVE blow to me. It’s terrifying thinking you probably won’t be able to make a living off of doing the thing you like seriously and not just as a hobby..

Scotty, but he knows
But at the same time many other jobs were invented
I’m sorry but you can’t compare the industrial revolution with modern day ai because these two things are VERY different 😭😭
