I don't have context to the OG post but this is a nuanced topic. Not talking about cis men, but transmasc individuals/trans men may still identify with the lesbian label in queer spaces. Each label may mean sth different to each individual and a transmasc person for example might still identify with the lesbian label due to a complicated relationship with gender and sexuality in general

Yes I get that and that’s understandable but MANY lesbian women have always stated they feel extremely uncomfortable and invalidated when men choose to identify as a lesbian…

Lesbian spaces have always been specifically catered towards women and women only… if you’re a trans man and you like women then you’re simply straight??

If you’re a trans women and you like women then you’re a lesbian. I feel like people just dislike being called straight nowadays because again, many and I mean MANY lesbians have stated how distasteful and uncomfortable it is for men whether trans or cis men to identify as a lesbian when lesbians have been fighting for so long to have a space free of discrimination when it comes to men

If you have a complicated relationship with gender and sexuality then imo it’s best to go as unlabeled because why are we making women who have been fighting for so long to have a comfortable space in the queer community to go into hiding and silence again because of men who’ve always had at least somewhat of a more accepting place in the queer community. Don’t forget why the L is in front when we state the LGBT community. It’s because Lesbians have contributed SO MUCH to the movement especially when it comes to literally helping gay men during the aids crisis.
