Vilina Hlýrnir Perelesnyk. Some people call her the Witch of the Snowy Hilltops, because one can often see her home move from one hilltop to another in nod-Kari. She’s inspired by Baba Yaga, a Slavic folklore of a grandmother whose house is seemingly alive with magic - some legends state she eats children for dinner… but that’s not entirely true (in Vilinas case at least. She doesn’t EAT children… she will haunt them though LOLLL)
She’s a half blooded Khaenriahn. Her mother was from Khaenriah, and her family lived there. During the cataclysm as Celestia was cursing Khaenriahns and turning them into hilichurls, Ronova decided to listen to one of the pleas of the council members of the Crimson Moon dynasty. The council member being Vilinas grandfather. Instead of cursing them, she’d let them live as long as the family served Celestia. Ronova took it into account and said she’d let them live, but instead of serving Celestia, one member of the family in future generations would be cursed with forbidden knowledge. If they manage to find this forbidden knowledge, then the whole family would be annihilated. Vilinas grandfather agreed.
Therefore, they were sent to overworld Teyvat, and lived in an island between Snezhnaya and Nod-Krai. Few years later when Vilina was born, she was heavily sheltered by her mother in fear of her being the one to find the forbidden knowledge and… she did. She snuck out one night, found the magic in a cave, activated it, went back home to see her ENTIRE village was DESTROYED by Ronova.
The reality set in she was sobbing and crying and in front of the ruins of her home, to add salt to the wound, she got her vision.
Cryo. (Cryo meaning when it comes to visions: Resolution. In the moment of receiving their vision, all users had to face a life changing situation/question.) and her situation was her entire family getting destroyed.
She was so mad she vowed she’d never, ever use her vision. And even till this day, her powers don’t resemble Cryo at all

Done w school I can explain the rest now heh
Anyway, she spent the following years of her life trying to master this magic and the forbidden knowledge and even managed to revive a book called the Nox Magika - and ancient book with the VERY very old Khaenriahn script she couldn’t decipher. But someone could. Dainsleif. She somehow managed to track him down and asked him for help. He was willing to help her if she helped him with the abyss situation because that’s where she dragged out most of her powers which was from the Nox Magika. She said okay and decided to help him, but Vilinas goals and his goals clashed at some point because Vilina wanted to bring back Khaenriah as a whole a revive it, while Dain told her to forget about it because it’s long gone and reviving a nation like that that’s done crimes of their own would bring catastrophe to Teyvat. So, she betrayed him (wow what is it with blonde women betraying Dain 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭)
Fast forward a few years later where he magic got noticed by the Hexenzirkel, and by lots of begging from Alice, she joined. However there was a lot of tension considering how Rheindottir was 1. Khaenriahn sinner 2. A shade. Two things that Vilina has been despising all her life for ruining her home TWICE. Her hatred for Rheindottir grew even more after seeing what she did to the dragon Durin. Had a huge argument with her during tea time, calling her a selfish and unfeeling being and vowed she’d destroy Celestia the next time they’d see her. And with that, she left the Hexenzirkel.
That’s the night Vilinas goals became clear.
1. Retrieve the key of Khaenriah and revive the nation
2. Destroy Celestia and the Heavenly Principles.
Alice was torn because she really did adore Vilina, so she decided to help her just a little. Gave her a charm that allowed vilina to have just a little extra luck when it came to the shades trying to kill her, so she’s basically less likely to be killed by them.

For the next years, she managed to take her name out of the irminsul without the knowledge of the dendro archon, but because there was a high chance of the ley lines erasing her due to Celestia most likely trying to exile her from Teyvat as a whole, (like how it was happening with Columbina), she decided she’d crush her bits from the Irminsul and burry it in the ley lines, making a part of her completely tied to the abyss and the ley lines forever so she could have more control over her physical body.
Moving on, I mentioned Vilinas powers are not related to Cryo at all. She’s one of those characters who has one design and one vision yet a whole different play style - sort of like Chasca looking pyro but being Anemo. She has two forms:
1. Relive
2. Decay
Relive’s play style revolves around branches and flowers - specifically sun flowers. Almost like she’s trying to replicate Dendro. But these flowers aren’t vibrant at all - they’re very dull and یجورایی یخ زده. This is because “relive” is her “pretend” powers - Vilina lives off of an act. She acts nice and friendly, but she’s completely indifferent and cold on the inside.
Decay, however, is another story. Decay is literally decay. The flowers start to decay and everything around her eventually decays and starts fading away too. Imagine Phainons powers or the black cubes with red aura we saw when the Shade of Space trapped our sibling or even in the new genshin world quest. With decay she can literally destroy everything and anything she wants - now you’re wondering “how did she even get these powers?” Well… funny story.
She tried to replicate Ronovas powers. Went to multiple locations Ronova had destroyed, tried to get fragments of her power and tried to replicate it. Therefore “borrowing” it.

She’s a catalyst user, can be used as both a dps and a support. Main teams can be Melt, Dendro x Cryo reaction we’re getting and Superconduct.
Her skill in usual/normal form is “Relive” where it has active Cryo application. During battle, after two usages of Relive, she then activates “Decay” which is the dps version. Decay creates a whole zone where the enemies are actively debuffed and their hps can go down without attacking for 5 seconds each (cannot be stacked). During Decay you can cast the ult to get back into Relive only once, but then you go back into Decay until you cast the main ult which only happens during decay (so therefore a mix of Skirk playstyle and Flins playstyle)
Decay can be used off field as well

How does she get into whims with Dottore you might ask? Well… funny story he actually came to her first. He told her if he became a god, he’d create a whole new Key of Khaenriah for her. If she helped him, of course.
Funnily enough again is that they both said they’d help each other BUT THEY ARENT PLANNING TO DO IT LMAOOO they’re both going to backstab each other.

Another fun fact -
She calls the Hexenzirkel “a bunch of tea drinkers 😒”
She also absolutely ADORES durin like that’s literally her child she loves him sm. She gives very nasty glances to Albedo though - her reasoning being he reminds her exactly of Rheindottir, despite Albedo always trying to be polite and nice to her.

Footsteps echo through the dimly lit halls. Take dimly lit with a grain of salt - barely lit. The only light that was possible was from the large glass tubes around the lab that had liquid inside and some other creatures. Shrooms from Sumeru was a prominent sight to see especially, along with some other creatures from deep sea Fontaine, a few stones from Liyue, cicins from Inazuma and so on so forth.
The only footsteps that echoed this loudly was the heels of a certain witch that was invited by a certain… Doctor.
“Ah, Madame Witch… such a pleasure to see you.” Dottore spoke calmly, walking over to Vilina and bowing just slightly as he took her hand and placed a small kiss to her knuckles.
“Hm.” Hummed Vilina, certainly not expecting this sort of formality from him of all people. “Is this to get a reaction out of me? Or do you just want to see my good side?” She mumbled, taking her hand away to her side as she glanced at him up and down. A small smirk played on his punchable face as he straightened himself up, placing his hands behind his back to hold a sophisticated demeanor.
“It’s merely politeness, Miss Vilina. I’m sure you’d know a lot about that.” He said with a smile - yet his tone was very, very much teasing. “Tch…” she scoffed under her breath, walking past him to look around his establishment. Dark. Gloomy. Metal. A desk full of materials and books, a whole different section for experiment sheets and substances, whatever they were anyway. It really seems like he doesn’t step foot outside of his shell much.
“I would’ve expected a little more from you, Doctor.” Vilina hummed, clearly not enthusiastic about even being here. “You are aware of the risks of us meeting, are you not? Could’ve chose a much better location than the Experimental Design Bureau…” she turned around to look at him. “You have colleagues here, yes? Wouldn’t they get suspicious?”
Dottore just chuckled a little before sighing as he walked towards her. “I thought you often don’t worry about others opinions on you?”
“I don’t.” She glared at him. “It’s a mere safety concern.”
“Well, no need to worry about safety here. Besides…” his voice lowered a little as his head motioned towards the little trinket she had hanging on her belt. “You have much protection from your own peers.” He smiled condescendingly. He definitely knew about how Alice has been helping her so far.
“…Of course.” She replied, smiling in a way that didn’t reach her eyes. The second he turned around, she rolled her eyes so far back they could’ve popped out of her skull. How annoying…
“You haven’t asked me why I’ve invited you here yet.” Dottores voice echoed more as he walked towards his desk, looking at some of his files.
“No need.” Vilina answered coolly. “You’re quite easy to read in my perspective. So whatever it is you’ve called me here for, I know I’m wasting my time either way.” She said as she looked at the shrooms in the large, illuminated glass tubes of liquid.
“My my… you wound me, My Lady.” Dottores chuckle sounded almost too melodic for Vilinas taste. “I thought you needed my help with something.”
“You also need my help with something, too.” She glared straight at him. “Do not paint me as if I’m dependent on you.”
“Ah…” Dottore hummed, going over to the corner of the room where he had a very old vinyl player Pantalone had given to him after he found it from Sumeru. It was one of the few things he still had to tie to his homeland. “So are you not? I wonder, how will you get that key…”
The vinyl got placed on the player as he adjusted it before it started playing static, and then coming out like a breeze of music. Some violins here, a piano there… classical.
Vilina just looked at his movements as he patiently and almost proudly walked over to her, holding his hand out once again. “Perhaps we could settle this on a one-on-one. What do you say?” His voice was almost as disgustingly sweet as the track he was playing. What an amazing actor… perhaps Vilina really did have competition on her hands.

Still, she placed her hand on his as they moved more to the center.
“Never took you for a dancer type, Doctor.” Vilina mumbled, looking around secretly to see if there was more to this… dance. Or rather “dance”. She was dealing with someone that was, unfortunately, too much like her. And if this was her, she’d have precautions.
“You see, I’m very particular who I dance with.” He smiled, stopping in front of her and placing his right hand on her waist while his left hand held her right hand up. She placed her left hand on his shoulder and adjusted her feet as they slowly started dancing to the music. “Not everyone gets to have a chance like this, you know.” He stated.
“So you’re telling me to be grateful?” She scoffed, glaring at him. “Oh look at me… getting to talk to the self proclaimed doctor and scientist of the Fatui… I must be so lucky.” Vilina stated with obvious sarcasm, to which he only laughed.
“No, no. I wouldn’t dare. Your ego is too high for that.” They moved to the violin, their steps mirroring each other around the lab. “My ego? Look who’s talking…” She shook her head, letting him spin her around.
“Why, of course. I won’t lie and say I don’t have one. I admit to it. I’ll also admit I’m very, very curious about you.” He spoke. Step left. Step right. Step back.
“Well, ask away.” Step forward, step back, step left. He only smiled, holding onto her waist a little tighter as they danced in a circle.
“What’s your true power?” Right off the bat. She spun away from him gracefully before he stepped forward again to hold her. “Mm…” she purred under her breath, almost laughing. “I’m afraid that’s too far already.”
He smiled, holding her waist again. He held her hand and walked around her before settling behind her as his hand slowly moved from her shoulder to her hand. He lowered his face a little to speak a bit closer to her ear. “I’m sure it’s not too difficult of a question.” He whispered.
Her lips twitched a bit in amusement before she spun around and placed both her hands on his abdomen and went up to his chest before he took her hand and went to the default position of dance. “I’m afraid it is. You wouldn’t be prepared for that answer.”
“Oh, please.” He scoffed. Step back. Forward. Side. “That’s quite the bold statement. Are you sure you know who you’re talking to?”
“Oh, I’m not sure you know who you’re talking to.” She bit back immediately, glaring at him. “Don’t question my authority.” Of course… her pet peeve was being underestimated, and he definitely knew how to use it.
“If that’s the case, then wouldn’t you show authority with your ability? So why not explain it?” He asked, prying it into her mind to get under her skin more.
“You’d need to ask more politely, I’m afraid.” She sighed, moving a bit further from the center. As they moved to a corner, she stepped on something and heard a click.
He quickly spun her around before leaning her down and holding her by her back. “Then… I’ll ask nicely.” He murmured, his free hand moving to her side before going to her chin and moving her head up just a bit more to look at somewhere.
The ceiling.
Dozens of very, very sharp knifes over her head. Pointed straight at her. She let out a rare shaky breath before her head slowly moved to her side to look down at where she was standing. The tile of this specific spot looked different that the rest of his lab. “Ha…” she huffed out, slowly beginning to smile before a series of laughs escaped her.
“Oh… you poor thing.” Was all she muttered before looking at him again, shaking her head to take the blond streaks of her hair off her face to look at his face and then slowly move her eyes to his feet. His eyes followed hers, and he looked down.
Lots of thorny veins. Going up from his leg to his torso and then, unmistakably, to his neck. The pain wasn’t from the thorns, no. It was from something else… spreading from it.
“You really thought I’d fall for this?” She tilted her head to the side with a smirk before he started slowly laughing on his own.

“Touché…” he muttered, pulling her back up again and away from the trap, which in return, the veins disappeared.
The track ended, only static could be heard from the vinyl. He walked over to it and took the vinyl off before looking at her. “Good track.” He held it up to her before putting it away.
She just stood up straight and smirked a little, nodding her head. “Good track indeed, Doctor.”

Originally as mentioned she’s two parts made into one right
Decay and Relive
Hahahah…..
So like yada yada we get to her cutscene I still need to figure out what happens before that bc I know she’ll help Dottore one last time before meeting her end
Decay is deeply rooted into the ley lines. She has been for over 500 years. Vilina in itself in her purest form is Vylna aka Relive (I like to refer to Relive as Vylna so her younger and innocent self before all the corruption) so the NOT evil version but in the end generally she’s a mix of Relive and Decay
Relive (Vylna) + Decay (Corruption of Ronova) = Vilina
In a state of self awareness before she perishes, she looks at herself and realizes how deeply embedded she is into the ley lines and not in a good way. This is her Relive self, and her mother even appears as one final attempt in her mind to persuade her to let it go and to just come home with her
She forcefully parts herself from Decay, gives just the slightest amount of herself aka her humanity to Decay, and leaves with her mother
Meanwhile Decay is devastated as she realizes that since this entire thing was obviously a curse by Ronova, no where ever in any timeline can she not get dragged into all of this. The same forbidden knowledge she found when she was a child in that cave??
THAT WAS HER. That forbidden knowledge WAS Decay. It was trying to warn her but the warning actually failed and gave her parts of it which overtime resulted in her current corruption
Again, very much distraught, Decay tries to drag itself/herself out of the ley lines and tries pulling all its roots but it fails. Nahida had burned the Irminsul. Anything connecting Decay to the ley lines now we’re dragging it inside, consuming her whole
The only thing left from Vilina is a singular frozen flower, which formed from her hand reaching out from underneath the dirt
Some parts of her still exist somewhere underground, which contributes to her still being able to show up in the form of a sub consciousness, but her physical form is gone and nothing remains of it
