This constant debilitating feeling of being neither "here" nor "there".

I always felt like an outsider in Iran — don't get me wrong. I was quite the friendless loner. But I at least had the comfort that people around me could somewhat understand me. I feel even more of an outsider here because literally no one and I mean NO ONE gets it

Somehow, despite barely being relevant in your own country, you still feel more of a connection there to here.

That’s why whenever I’m dead beat miserable here I’m like I’m lonely, deadbeat and miserable here more than I was in Iran bc in Iran I at least had SOME comfort of familiarity
