You probably describe the open-source as the most frequently used IT term. Open-source projects are known outside the professional community - they are used worldwide, actively discussed, and closely monitored. We love and respect open-source projects, but let's be honest - they didn’t bring only fame and happiness to their creators but also troubles and headaches.

We will surely talk about headaches later, but, as always, we want to start with positive points, especially since from our point of view there are still more of them. So, you are a web developer, and you want to try yourself in open-source. Why do this?

We continue the open-source development thread by projecting it onto people. Lucky for us, among famous developers, there are a lot who lean on project progress with open-code. We had an opportunity to talk to them in private.

Kenneth Reitz is one of these geniuses. A well-known developer and participant in international conferences. Many know him from his open-source projects. Requests - a simple but elegant library for working with HTTP; and pipenv, a tool for working with packages and virtual environments. Besides programming, he is keen on photography and music.

Kenneth shared his thoughts on the main difficulties with scaling applications. He spoke about applying the async/await paradigm in Python and his PyTheory project and natural programming abilities.
