๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ A Nigerian Air Force strike targeting jihadist rebels hit a local market in the northeast instead, killing as many as 200 civilians, a local chief reported on Monday.

Officials confirmed a misfire but provided no further details.

Additionally, Amnesty International cited survivors as saying that at least 100 people were killed in the air strike on Saturday on a village in Yobe state, near the border with Borno state, which is the epicentre of the insurgency that has ravaged the region for over a decade.

โ€œWe have their pictures and they include children,โ€ Isa Sanusi, Amnesty International's Nigeria director, said, referring to the casualties.

It's borderline comedic how all German outlets report on a whale feeling bad for weeks, while barely anyone even mentions 200 Nigerian civilians casually bombed by their own country's military by mistake.

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท French cement maker Lafarge has been found guilty of paying millions of dollars in protection money to jihadist groups, including ISIS, to keep its business running in Syria during the civil war.

Eight ex-Lafarge employees were also found guilty of financing terrorism, including former CEO Bruno Lafont who was jailed for six years on Monday.

The court in Paris found that Lafarge paid terrorist groups $6.5 million between 2013 and 2014 to keep its plant operating.

The factory in Jalabiya, northern Syria, was bought by Lafarge in 2008 for $680 million and began operations in 2010, months before civil war began in 2011.

Payments were made between 2013 and September 2014, prosecutors said, and included โ‚ฌ800,000 to secure safe passage to work for the company's employees and โ‚ฌ1.6 million to purchase source materials from quarries under Islamic State control.

Nusra Front, which was affiliated to al-Qaeda and proscribed by the EU and others, was also among the groups Lafarge paid money to, judges said.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ After the country virtually ran out of fuel, the biggest Australian state of Western Australia has flagged plans to develop its exclusive strategic fuel supply - the stateโ€™s agriculture sector was rocked by diesel shortages stemming from the conflict in the Middle East.

The state's Energy Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said the government was developing a plan for the future storage of millions of litres of fuel, which would be controlled by the state and available only to West Australians.

Western Australia accounts for about 25% of Australiaโ€™s diesel consumption, with agriculture and mining taking up a bulk of this.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ Spain's PM Urges China to Fill Global Leadership Void

Spanish Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sรกnchez is in China for his fourth visit in three years, where he is scheduled to meet with leader Xi Jinping.

In a Beijing speech, Sรกnchez urged the communist state to assume a greater global leadership role, particularly in security and defense.

This outreach occurs amid strained relations between Sรกnchez's government and the US, fueled by his vocal criticism of Israel's military operations.

He emphasized Europe-China cooperation for global stability, stating the 'world cannot be understood without China' and citing their past shared prosperity as a model for future relations.

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ US ICE Arrests Fugitive Ex-Brazilian Intel Chief

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Alexandre Ramagem Rodrigues, the former chief of Brazil's intelligence agency, on American soil. Rodrigues had fled to the United States to escape prosecution in his home country.

He faces a potential 16-year prison sentence linked to allegations of plotting a coup together with former President Jair Bolsonaro. The arrest by US authorities marks a significant development in the ongoing legal challenges facing Bolsonaro's allies, even though, in theory, the right-wing US administration is supposed to assist its allies in Brazil.

Ramagem was reportedly detained in Florida following a traffic stop. An ally claims Ramagem has legal status in the US and a pending asylum request under review, making the fact that he was arrested even more surprising - on many occasions, President Trump voiced support for Bolsonaro and his allies.
