He was detained and questioned by British counter terrorism Police concerning his possible knowledge of the 2018 GRU poisonings in England.
He has stated that if forced to choose between British and Russian passports, he would select the Russian option "without a second thought".
The foreign office has refused to comment on the decision but stated it was due to national security.
