🇺🇸🇮🇷 The niece and grand-niece of the deceased commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, Gen Qasem Soleimani, have been arrested, the US state department has said.
Their lawful US permanent resident status was revoked by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a statement released on Saturday said.
However, Soleimani's daughter has called the state department's claims false, saying the arrested individuals "have no connection whatsoever" to her father.
In a post on social media, Rubio said the two women were in the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, pending removal from the country.
He added in the statement on X that Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were "green card holders living lavishly in the United States".
Soleimani, who was Iran's most powerful military commander, was killed in 2020 in a US air strike in Iraq which was ordered by then US President Donald Trump.

🇪🇸 A retired matador was killed by a bull on Friday as he prepared the animals for a bullfight at an arena in Málaga, in southern Spain.
The man was handling the bulls in their enclosures, when one of the animals gored him. The death came a day before a Picasso-themed bullfight, during which three bullfighters will face six bulls, is scheduled to take place at the arena.
Between 2010 and 2023, the number of bullfighting festivals in Spain dropped by a third, according to Reuters.

Hamza Iqbal, 20, Rehan Khan, 19, and a 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons, are accused of torching four ambulances belonging to the Jewish volunteer emergency service Hatzola on March 23 while they were parked near a synagogue in London.

🇵🇱🇧🇾 The Polish government has announced a significant decrease in the number of attempts to illegally cross the border with Belarus, pointing to the effectiveness of its migration policy and the reinforced activities of its services.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, in the first quarter of 2026, only 158 attempts to illegally cross the border were recorded, compared to as many as 3306 in the same period in 2022. This represents a decrease of almost 96%.
The border with Belarus has had a physical barrier in the form of a 5.5-metre high fence topped with barbed wire since 2022. It is also monitored by cameras and other electronic devices. Despite this, the border has been repeatedly seen violent attempts at overcoming it by groups of migrants in recent years, and on 6 June 2024, a Polish soldier was stabbed to death during clashes at the border.
Border Guard has also reported on several occasions the discovery of tunnels under the border.

The 62-year-old man was found guilty of making, smuggling, and trafficking illegal substances. The sentence was carried out in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.
The man, identified as Chan Tao Fumi, had originally been sentenced to death in 2010 and spent more than 15 years on death row.
During that period, his legal defense team was denied access to the final court hearing, a move that was widely viewed as a violation of his rights. France’s Foreign Ministry expressed “outrage” over the case.
