The Sibiu manuscript is believed to have been written by a man called Conrad Haas, a Transylvania Saxon living in Hermannstadt (now Sibiu, Romania), between 1550 and 1570. He is believed to have been a military engineer who worked for the Kingdom of Hungary. Interestingly, the Father of Modern Rocketry, Hermann Oberth, was also from Hermannstadt and a mentor to Werner Von Braun, famous head of NASA.
