The Readerly text (French: lisible) is passive, it merely requires the reader to absorb and to simply—and metaphorically—listen to whatever the writer says.
The Writerly text (French: scriptible), on the contrary, demands the reader's effort to "co-author" the text with the writer. Reading such a text is always an active, creative process.

Also, on a totally unrelated note: being a "reader" is not a job, nor something to be proud of. It's like being proud for being a "car driver" or a "grocery buyer." It's a basic human skill, go find a life.
