Here's an example of the insignificance of Reality and the importance of "thought" : remember the famous "pale blue dot" image? If you think about the "Reality" of it, it's meaningless, it simply shows earth. But it is up to US to interpret it: some of us (like Carl Sagan) thought of it as a testament of our insignificance in the universe, another one might use it as an evidence of how cool science is, a religious person will use it as a sign of God's omnipotence... Reality (the pale blue dot) stays the same, but what we dress it up with, that's the big deal.

This is the basic presumption behind all existentialism

It follows that we are almost always living inside our heads: in the mental world that—we think—represents Reality.
Not because we can't perceive Reality (as Kant and other idealists thought), but because perceiving it is boring and useless.

That's why Karl Marx was wrong when he said that: "The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it," because by interpreting the world, we change it. We create it anew.
Slavoj Zizek:
Maybe we have tried to change the world too quickly, let's interpret it again.

There are a thousand paths that have never yet been trodden, a thousand forms of health and hidden islands of life. Man and man’s earth are still unexhausted and undiscovered.
Watch and listen, you solitaries! From the future come winds with a stealthy flapping of wings; and good tidings go out to delicate ears.
You solitaries of today, you who have seceded from society, you shall one day be a people: from you, who have chosen out yourselves, shall a chosen people spring – and from this chosen people, the Superman.

Caught in the relaxing interval between one moral code and the next, an unmoored generation surrenders itself to luxury, corruption, and a restless disorder of family and morals.
