أولُ جانبٍ يَهدِمُه الغِنى في الحضارةِ هو الجانبُ الأخلاقي... فالشبابُ لم يعودوا يَسعون للشهرة والشرف والخِدمة العسكرية، بل للمال... الفقيه أبو حامد الغزالي (1058-1111) مثلًا، كان يشتكي من أنّ الطلاب صاروا لا يَحضرون المدارِس من أجلِ طلَبِ العِلم والفضائل، بل للحصولِ على المؤهِّلات التي تُعينُهم لكي يصبحوا أثرياء.
