خلال رحلته لمصر زار القاهرة و مناطق مصرية بجوله سياحية عبر سيناء و أفيوم و القاهرة و وصل لبلاد الشام للقدس و دمشق. صار عنده الهام فني للمناظر الي كان يشوفها بطبيعة شمال أفريقيا و الممارسات العربية الدينية من بين هاللوحات دمج الإعمار الشرقي مع صور العري الأنثوي بتمثيله للعبيد و حمامات النساء، و دمج التفاصيل المعمارية للشرق الأوسط مع العراة

أغلب الناس بالحالات اللي تتطلب الصمت، يحسون بالإحراج (awkward silence) ويحجون اي شي حتى لو غبي بس علمود يكسرون الصمت... وهالشي يسوي الحالة اسوأ

إنّ التعصُّبَ والنشاط غيرِ المسبوقَين الذين نجدُهما في كل فروعِ العلوم الطبيعية سببه هو أنّ العلماء الذين يمارسون هذه العلوم لا يعرفون شيئًا آخرَ [من المعرفة البشرية] غيرها، وهو ما يقودهم في آخر الأمر لإيمانٍ غبي بالمادية Materialism.
These [scientists] should be made to understand, that the mere study of Chemistry qualifies a man to become an apothecary, but not a philosopher. Certain other like-minded investigators of Nature, too, must be taught, that a man may be an accomplished zoologist and have the sixty species of monkeys at his fingers' ends, yet on the whole be an ignoramus to be classed with the vulgar, if he has learnt nothing else.

يجبُ أنْ يفهَمَ هؤلاء [العلماء] أنّ دراسة الكيمياء تجعلُ المرء مؤهلًا ليكون صيدليًا، لكن ليسَ فيلسوفًا.
وكذلك الأمرُ بالنسبة لأمثالِهم من علماء الطبيعة. إذ يجبُ أنْ يفهموا أنّ المرء يمكن أنْ يكونَ خبيرًا بعلم الحيوان ويعرفَ ستّينَ نوعًا من أنواع القردة عن ظهرِ قلب، لكنّه كإنسانٍ بحد ذاته، سيبقى جاهلًا يُصَنَّفُ مع العوامِ من الناس، إنْ لم يتعلم شيئًا آخر.
