موت سينيكا، هي لوحة لجاك لوي دافيد عام ١٧٧٣، تصور اللحظات الأخيرة للفيلسوف الرواقي سينيكا، حيث أن إمبراطور روما نيرون أمر بأن ينتحر الفيلسوف. فبدأ عملية الانتحار بالتعثر. لم يجرِ الدم بسرعة كافية في جسده الهرم حتى بعد ان مزق شاريين كاحليه ومؤخرتي ركبتيه، لذا طلب تحضير كوب من سم الشوكران، ولكن رغبته بإتباع المثال الأثيني كانت عبثية. شرب السم من دون ان يكون له ادنى تأثير. وبعد محاولتين فاشلتين طلب وضعه في حمام بخار كي يختنق حتى الموت ببطء، حيث سيتعذب ولكن بثبات، رابط الجأش رغم اضطرابات القدر.

حسب الفيلسوف سينيكا فإن البنية الأساسية في قلب كل إحباط: تعارض أمنيةٍ مع واقع قاسٍ.
يجب أن نتمكن من بلوغ الحكمة حين نتعلم أن لا نفاقم استعصاء العالم من خلال ردود أفعالنا، ونوبات الغضب، ورثاء الذات، والقلق، والسخرية المريرة، والتعالي، والبارانويا. لا بد من تطويع أنفسنا مع اللااكتمالية المتلازمة مع الوجود!
