الدورة الدموية للجنين fetus تكون مختلفة عن الدورة الدموية للشخص البالغ من حيث:
الأذين الأيمن والأيسر يكونن مفتوحات على بعض بفتحة إسمها foramen ovale.
وأكو شريان إضافي إسمه Ductus arteriosus هذا شغله أنه يربط الpulmonary trunk بلAorta (يعني الدم بدل ميروح للرئتين، رح يروح أغلبه للشريان الأبهر aorta وبالتالي للجسم... لأن الرئتين بالجنين يكونن مملوءات بالسائل وميشتغلن)... وبناءاً على هذا، فأغلب الدم (%90) ينتقل من الأذين الأيمن RA للأيسر LA... في حين فقط 10% منه يوصل للرئتين.

طبعاً لما ينولد الطفل، الforamen ovale تنغلق ورة دقايق والأذينين ينفصلون... وبنفس الوقت الDuctus arteriosus ينغلق والدم يرجع لمساره "الطبيعي" ويوصل للرئتين.
وفي حال صارت مشكلة وما انسد الforamen ovale... معناها الدم غير المؤكسج deoxy. blood (بدل مينتقل من الأذين الأيمن RA للبطين الأيمن RV وبعدين للرئة) رح يعبر من خلال الforamen ovale للأذين الأيسر LA وبالتالي للدورة الدموية الكبرى يعني للجسم كله وبالتالي رح يسبب متلازمة الطفل الأزرق blue baby syndrome ومرض القلب الزراقي cyanotic heart disease
