التوأم ثاناتوس و هيبنوس ممكن يكونوا أكثر اثنين معروفين من اولاد nyx و erebus..
و عاشوا بعالم هيديس السفلي ثاناتوس كان يمثل الموت و هيبنوس hypnos يجسد النوم و كان هيبنوس يسكن بكهف كبير يمثل النسيان و يحيطه نهر Lethe و بمدخل الكهف تنمو نباتات منومة مثل ازهار الخشخاش و ما يدخل لهذا الكهف اي نور أو صوت و كان اله طيب و لطيف و يساعد الي يحتاجونه و هو الإله الي يمتلك نصف حياة البشر و تزوج من باساثيا Pasithea الي هي اصغر آلهات الحسن الي خلقتهن حيرا و تجسد الهلوسة و الاسترخاء....

اللوحة تمثل الفرق القليل بين الموت و النوم و الخيط الفارق الي يفصل بينهم و تصور الموت كأنه نوم أبدي و شي مقبول و لدرجة ما نكدر نفرق بسهولة بين تجسيد الموت و النوم
