ببساطة هو عبارة عن قمر صناعي من نوع CubeSat يعني أنه يكون على شكل مكعب صغير (بالنسبة للايت سايل فأبعاده هي 10×10×30 cm بس!) ولما يوصل لمدار الأرض تنفتح أشرعة شمسية solar sails منه (هي "أشرعة" تستخدم الطاقة الشمسية علمود تدفعها، مثل ما أشرعة السفينة تستخدم طاقة الرياح) توصل مساحتها الكلية لحد 32 متر مربع
