Death has always seemed like the great last escape. One need not commit suicide, but merely to consider it as an option to feel safe (which is why Nietzsche said "the thought of suicide"). It's a defense mechanism.

Voluntary death is one of those paradoxical things: by confronting it as a possibility and an option, a courageous man finds freedom, and the coward finds relief.

Voluntary death is paradoxical: for the man of courage, it's the last of human freedoms that no one can take from him; the freedom to perish than to compromise over one's most fundamental principle.

But for the coward, voluntary death is the last escape which no one can take from him, and for that he holds on to it dearly like a raft in the ocean; the great relief of the insufferable pains of life. He does not opt for death out of love for his own dignity, but for his inability to tolerate suffering. His legs are too shaky and shoulders are too slim for him to bear the responsibilities and sufferings that life has presented to him.

Most people who commit suicide do it out of cowardice, not courage. So don't assume I'm romanticizing it.

Husserl points out that there is no conflict between science and phenomenology but there is a conflict whenever scientists go beyond what science itself says and endeavor to philosophize (badly). According to Husserl:

If natural science actually speaks, then we listen eagerly and as apprentices. But natural science does not always speak when natural scientists speak, and certainly not when they speak about “philosophy of nature” and “epistemology befitting natural science.”

Consider the renewal of life that comes from having children. Merleau-Ponty observes, “In the household where a new child is born, all objects change their sense, they begin to anticipate from this child some still indeterminate treatment; someone new and someone additional is there, a new history, whether it be brief or long, has just been established, and a new register is open.” The child’s wonder before the world is contagious. It is not just the child that is a delight but also the new interest in the world, as a new understanding slowly dawns. We rediscover the living waters that swirl about below the ice whenever we speak and think about things, for children must figure out how to break into speech and come to understand things, and in minding their efforts we are brought to realize how strange it is that speaking happens or that inklings of illumination about things can occur and be shared.

Love draws one out of oneself, prompting one to find joy in sharing the beloved’s world with the beloved. As one continues to learn to see the world through the beloved’s eyes, one acquires new modes of insight.

ذكر الفيروزبادي موانع العلم في تفسيره فقال:

"ومنها الوثوق بالذكاء، وأنّه سيحصّل الكثير من العلم في القليل من الزمان متى شاء، فتحرمه الشواغل والموانع، وكثير من الأذكياء فاتهم العلم بهذا السبب"

يكلك الذكاء يسهّل عليك اكتساب المعرفة والمهارات المختلفة ويخلي عملية التعلم أسرع؛ اللي تتعلمه باسبوع، شخص أذكى منك رح يتعلمه بـ 5 أيام.
بالمقابل، حتى توصل لمستوى عالي بأي مهارة أو حقل معرفي، فالأمر يتطلب ما هو أكثر بهواي من الذكاء: يتطلب القدرة على بذل الكثير من الجهد وبشكل مستمر نسبيًا. باختصار، القدرة على تحمّل العمل الشاق سواءً كان عقلي أو جسدي.

لهذا مثلًا بالشطرنج، تشوف عدد ساعات التدريب ونوعه يتناسبن طرديًا وية مستوى اللاعب، بدرجة أكبر من ذكاءه. تأثير الذكاء يكون أكبر باللاعبين الصغار، لأن ذكاءهم يساعدهم يتعلمون أساسيات اللعبة أسرع من أقرانهم وبالنتيجة يكونون أعلى منهم. بس كلما يتقدمون بالعمر، كلما أقرانهم يلحكوهم وتأثير التدريب يزيد والذكاء يقل.
