لَولا المَشَقَّةُ سادَ الناسُ كُلُّهُمُ
الجودُ يُفقِرُ وَالإِقدامُ قَتّالُ

إِنّا لَفي زَمَنٍ تَركُ القَبيحِ بِهِ
مِن أَكثَرِ الناسِ إِحسانٌ وَإِجمالُ

ذِكرُ الفَتى عُمرُهُ الثاني وَحاجَتُهُ
ما قاتَهُ وَفُضولُ العَيشِ أَشغالُ

وَلا راحَ يُطغيني بِأَثوابِهِ الغِنى
وَلا باتَ يَثنيني عَنِ الكَرَمِ الفَقرُ
