قَولُ ابنِ الدبّاغ، في وصفِ ابن شرف القيرواني (الأب):
الأديبُ الفاضِل، أحَدُ مَن نَظَم قلائِد الآداب وجَمَعَ أشتاتَ الصواب، وتَلاعَبَ بالمنثور والمَوزون تَلاعُبَ الرياحِ بأطرافِ الغُصون.

تَذُمّ أهلَ زمانِكَ وأنتَ منهم، كأنّك وحدَك البريء، وجميعَهم الجَريء، كلا بَل جَنَيتَ وجُنِيَ عليك، فذَكَرتَ ما لديهم ونسيتَ ما لديك.

قَالَ (عليه السلام )مَنْ تَرَكَ قَوْلَ لاَ أَدْرِي أُصِيبَتْ مَقَاتِلُهُ .

جاءت امرأة إلى بزرجمهر فسألته عن مسألة فقال لا أدري فقالت أ يعطيك الملك كل سنة كذا كذا و تقول لا أدري فقال إنما يعطيني الملك على ما أدري و لو أعطاني على ما لا أدري لما كفاني بيت ماله .
و كان يقول قول لا أعلم نصف العلم .
و قال بعض الفضلاء إذا قال لنا إنسان (لا أدري‏) علمناه حتى يدري و إن قال أدري امتحناه حتى لا يدري‏
